hey guys. been doin alot of research on here on these kits. i saw where srt handz got the kit from 70dollar hid kits. trying to decide on the 6000 or 8000. i have the smoked headlights from american muscle. those of you with the smoked headlights, does the 8000 work better?

From what i know the 6000K kits produce the best visibility and pfoject the light the farthest. This is because the 6000K kits produce the "whitest" light of them all. 8000K is still pretty white but has a slight blue in them. My buddy has them on his MX6 and we smoked his headlights and they still work awesome. I have smoked headlights and I have 10000K(really blue) HID's on my cobra and once i get out into the woods with no street lights i can still see everything just fine. Although when its raining my 10000K dont produce nearly as well as my buddys 8000K. So if you want the BEST possible visibility go with a 6000K kit. If you want still much better than stock bulbs and you like a little tinge of blue in your lights you will be happy with the 8000K kit

They will interfere a little bit cuz the lights are a lighter darker so its a little harder for the light to push through but both me and my buddy see just fine

actually, 94svtturbo is wrong.

3500K HIDs have the highest light output. the lower the temp, the higher the light output. Most OEM HIDs are 4300K

Are you sure about this? I live out here in Oregon and all the shops around here carry 6000K HID's and recommend that is what to go with because they produce the best white light which they say is the best for projection in all directions of the light. That is also what all the dumb ricers in this area run and some of the headlight housing make them blindinly bright if they are behind you.

White 98 gt - Also what are you looking for out of your HID kit are your looking for the absolute best possible visiblity or are you looking to increase the look of your car as well as a little increase in visibilty?

I have had both 12000K and 10000K on my car. The 12000K I thought looked great. It was unique and I liked it. However they absolutely sucked when it was raining.Although when it was dry out I could drive to the beach in the middle of the night and go through the mountains with no street lights just fine without any problems. They projected just fine. But in the rain in woulda been a little sketchy. My 10000K Do much much better in the rain and i still have a look i like.

So it all comes down to what are you hoping to achieve with an HID kit?

i want the clearer night vision plus i like the slight blue tint. but i still want to see in the rain ok also. so i guess the 8000 would do what i need & want...

Then yes i think you would be happy with a set of 8000K. Like I said earlier that what my buddy has them on his MX6 and i think they they look good and are good for visibility as well. And if after you order the 8000K kit and decide you want 6000K you can pick up a set of 6000K HID bulbs of ebay for around 30 bucks. And just plug them into your existing Ballasts. My 10000K HID bulbs are off of ebay. I paid 30 bucks for them and they have been in my car for ten months now without a single issue thus far

Yeah. I am happy with them. For the amount of money i have spent It was a way good deal. I looked a steve oh's Sig and i think he does have projectors but im not sure. They kinda look like projectors to me cuz they look like a perfect circle as opposed to lighting up the whole housing like others do. I can take a pic of my lights a little later when it gets dark if you wanna see another shot of some HIDs

actually the lower temp is not the higher light output. 4300 or so is the highest light output, any temp higher or lower will be less light output at least in terms of usable light.

for the OP, i have 6000K in my smoked headlights and really like them.

Alright here are those pics I told ya i would get. The first ones are taken at dusk. I went back about an hour later when it was totally dark and snapped some more. These were the best. The fifth is the bluest and look clost to what it is in preson but the pic is a little fuzzy. It was difficult to capture the color that i see in person on camera. But i got a few good ones.
