Hey all, first post here on the forums so go easy :sad5:

Right now I have smoked cobra headlights on my 96 coupe. However the lights just aren't bright enough so I've decided to go back to clear headlights. I'm pretty sure since I'm buying new headlights I'll go with a HID setup. The problem I'm seeing however is it's not recommend to put HID in a halogen housing. That means I have to get a projector headlight setup, and every projector headlight I've seen in a Mustang makes it look ricer :violent1:

Now, I really like these lights (http://www.americanmuscle.com/9498-chrome-headlights-amber.html) but I've had issues in the past getting them correctly aligned and if at all possible I'd prefer a one-piece headlight (both headlight and blinker together).

So I guess my questions are these.

1.) Do I have to use projector lights with a HID setup?

2.) If so, does anyone know of any headlights that won't make the car look ricer?

3.) Are there any chrome/crystal halogen lights that are a one-piece setup?

4.) If getting projectors that aren't ricer looking means getting a two-piece setup, does anyone have opinions about these? http://www.octanemotorsports.com/Li...eadlights-Chrome/product_info.html#googlebase

I really like the way this car looks (http://www.stangmods.com/PhotoGallery.asp?ProductCode=00068), is that HID setup with a halogen housing or projector?

Thanks

I don't know much. I do know that I have smoked lights from Art's/Blue Oval Industries. I have the hidguys HID's. I run the 4300K in them. They are tons better & brighter than my stocks were! Even with the non-smoked housings. I just think the projectors all looks ricey, to me. Sure they shine better, oh well. Those lights look OK, I just like my mine though.

Welcome!

You don't need projectors to run HID's... However if you use projectors the light output will generally be less scattered and utilize the "power" of the bulbs better.

This is discussed at length on this forum, so with a bit of searching you'll find much more info n the topic than I could give you.

That being said if you buy the 2 piece projectors(not a lot of people like the ricey 1 piece angel eye designs here) you will get great light output with the HID's.

I actually have Cobra headlights with a 4300k single beam kit and like it just fine.

Thanks for the info. If I run them in halogen housing, I'm gonna get clear cobra headlights or some other clear crystal light. I'm just not digging the smoked headlight on my black car. I think the clear/crystal lights contrasts better. That said, is it possible to buy projector or angel eyes and not hook up the blue glowing halo that many of the lights seem to have? For example this kit, http://www.streetbeatcustoms.com/AM...ack-Halo-Projector-Headlights-_-42008/642741/

Yea you don't have to connect the splice-in's for the halos if you don't want...

I would probably just go for the clear Cobra style lights though, much cleaner look. ;)

So clear cobra lights with an added in HID kit? Are there any one-piece clear cobra headlight kits you know of?

I don't believe there are any 1 piece Cobra style lights on the market at this time(or any other good looking ones for that matter but that's just my opinion.)

I would scout eBay and see what you come up with, the marketplace there will definitely give you a good taste as to the types of headlights out there for our cars.

I'm slightly leaning towards 2 or 4. If I get 2, I get clear fog lights, 4 I get smoked ones.

They are so expensive man, I think he was quoting around $500 for the operation, and you have to provide the headlights so that's really about $650 or so :crybaby2: Not sure how anyone can justify that much on lights :tard:
