highway pulled with a s197 GT

Well one of my buddies has a 06 GT, automatic, with CAI. He has been wanting to race my poor old slow 98 GT, automatic, Xcal3 91 octane tuned. We were headed back from a car show on the highway, both had 1 passenger a piece. He has been saying he will murder me, and I agreed he is gonna pull hard. Anyway we go on the third honk from 45 to 90-95. I had my O/D turned off, he didn't. He barely pulled at all maybe a car or a car and a half by 90-95. I really expected to get beat by a buslength. I think I was lucky he was in O/D at the start and I wasn't. Anyway I was surprised at the outcome and how close I was. Anyone else messed with a S197? I am gonna try to go from a dig soon.
(btw I realize my npi is a slow dog, just surprised I was close)

I destroyed an 07 or 08 from a dig but I think he just had exhaust work done. Don't really know. Didn't let him catch up to ask.

A friend of mine has an 06 GT and has been wanting to run me... we are going out to an 1/8m track tomorrow night... Should have a video to post tomorrow night. He has intake, exhaust, tune & street tires... I'm running an S-Trim (w/supporting mods) & M/T ET Streets... I'll let you know how it goes...

Yeah according to wikipedia the S197 Gt weighs 3480 lbs. I've weighed mine at 3340.

I've pulled one by a car length 40-90. No idea what he had done, it was a Shelby GT, not the GT500, I think its supposed to be like 320-330 hp.

S197s are WAY bigger cars, but honestly don't weigh too much more. Driving my car then driving my brother's is a weird experience. Mine seems more "old school" muscle car styled and his is more modern day performance car. That being said, pulls at 40mph are stupid, hell any pull is. A REAL drag is from a stop.

Also I just checked, the 08 GT500 were the pig S197s weighing in at a heavy 3920lbs, that's like 600lbs more than a base GT SN95!

My 07 weighted 3480 without me and a 1/4 tank of gas when it ran the 12.70 with minimal mods doing the one wheel peel.

I forgot to weight the 96 when I was at the track last as a comparison but my 95 was 3350 without me and 3/4 tank of gas.

I think it's going to take more a tune, gears, exhaust to get the 96 into the 12's.
