Hood Pins!

I'm tired of reading all these threads saying "Pick these they are safe". Then I research them and they fail on quiet a bit of peoples cars. I was looking at these, http://hoodpins.net/cart/index.php?main_page=product_info&cPath=1&products_id=2 I couldn't find any reviews on the site about these but $150 is a lot of hood pins, from the other ones that I've looked at. I don't want the hood pins with the lanyards, they don't have to be locking but I'd like it if they were.. and one's that wont rust. Any advice?

someone on here mounted them facing down so they didn't even stick out of the hood which is what I would do..

How fast are you looking to go where you would have to look at hoodpin failure?? At the end of the day I believe that the good ole steel rod and cotter pins are the way to go. I had problems with those lock and key ones because I would forget to lock it down, or eventually I lost the key. Installation is a bitch with the more complicated stlye hood pins as well.

Hood pins are hideous. I have them on my notch (they were there when I bought the car) and I hate them. Don't do it.

As long as the hood latch works as it should, you'll be fine.

I like the added security. The hood is fiberglass and already has holes for hood pins. I'm going with the UPR black hood pins.

I do research on everything, and I read tons of people having hood pin failure. But the question is, did the hood fail or did they not mount them in the right area? They fail to say that in their post. My friends wifes turbo car had some $20 ford racing pins and they never had problems with tons of passes. Not sure where my car is going to place but it will be 650+hp turbo car.

I've never had any problems/failures out of my pins. They're Mr. Gasket brand. I'm going on 6 years with them.

I'll agree with Paul aside from one thing, make sure the hood has a steel hood latch. Some hoods have fiberglass where the latch hooks onto it and over time it can become weak and tear out. Then you're the guy posting that your hood flew up on the highway and smashed your windshield and roof.

If your going to get a set get the more quailty ones even if they are a little more. Do it right once..

i had some generic brand when i bought my car. since then the plates rusted and i had some stainless plates made for me. then the pins started to wear out and not always "clasp". ordered some ford racing ones and they work. the ford ones are fine. i don't think its worth all that extra money for something as simple as hood pins.

I had FRPP hood pins on my old car, they did the job good, but had lanyards lol. I personally don't like hood pins but needed them for the hood I bought sadly .

Fuck the locking ones with the keys. I forgot to lock them one day and 40mph is all I needed to smash my windshield and my hood

I bought the upr Hood pins for $80. I like the black ones and They look really nice. I don't like the Ford racing pins.
