im thinkin about getting a Kenne Bell supercharger kit. the only problem is that they no longer make the kit for the 96-98 2v, they only have the kit for the 99-04 2v. is there any way that i could possibly get the 99-04 kit to fit on my 98 GT with npi heads? just wondering....

^+1, will have to do one or the other to get it to work. the better choice would be the pi swap so the adapter plates wouldnt be a bandaid and also a restriction.

PI swap just the heads/cams. Then bolt it down. Nice and easy

you could get the npi to pi adapter plates... or pi swap.

i actually called kenne bell about this... their kit comes with the intake manifold, so putting on a PI Mani wont help.

the adapter plates are the best solution. its not very safe to do the good-ol' "Black Silicone" trick when theres boost in the manifold. The adaptor plates are really the only answer. These will give it the ability to seal properly and maintain durability... although the plates ROB HORSEPOWER, they are much more reliable than the black RTV.

you may need a new hood. the plates will lift the entire set-up up. plus the blower itself...

lmao. ^^^ thats what im doing. ;-) i got tired of kenne bell telling me how to and how not to build my car. lol.

"well if you're going to do the PI swap, you might as well rebuild the bottom end..."
"our boost a pump is the greatest thing since sliced ham"

a lot of companies (that sell their own products to the customers themselves, as opposed to a 3rd party site like AmericanMuscle) will still make discontinued products per request, you just have to email them or call them and tell them you are interested in a discontinued product. as long as they still have the materials to build whatever it is you want, then they will usually make it for you.

for example, i emailed ABCexclusive because i was interested in just the abc lip part for the cobra bumper, and they told me it wasnt a stocked item anymore due to that they stopped producing them. they did however tell me that if i was interested, they would make it per special request.

it may cost you more to have it built as opposed to when they used to "sell" the kit, but it may be cheaper than having to do a PI swap to make the 99-04 kit fit.

I would think that doing a P.I. swap and buying the newer kit from KB would work. I thought the engines we pretty much the same just with better 'flowing' parts. The OP said he has a line on a actual 2v KB kit though.

thanks for the info guys. im worried that if i do the PI swap then that combined with the kenne bell will be too much for my bottom end. i was thinkin about a MMR shortblock but this is my DD6 so i just want a good streetable car. Im lookin at the 6 psi non-intercooled kenne bell kit if that makes any difference.

youll be fine. run 8-10 PSI and let the TQ roll!

if you want it simple, just do the adapter plates and the blower.

if you want it right, do the swap and the blower.

An intercooled 6-8psi is fine on a pi swapped car, just gotta pull more timing than a pi car. You will still make the same if not more power than a factory pi with the same kit.

if you do the adapter plates, you're going to need a custom belt, you may run into hood clearance issues.
either buy a used one, or pick up a forged bottom end PI motor and have at it.

i say just get a set of pi heads, throw some blower cams in them and blot up the KB lol

or just get something like a paxton/vortech/procharger and spend less than half on the cost lol

id suggest running about 9PSI. ... 11 if you were NPI.

you honestly dont have to do the PI swap. the adapter plates should work fine. but you will need a new hood and a new belt. no biggy.... lol. new belt = $30. power saw to the hood = free. :)
