I've never really considered NOS as a reasonable option before, but it's starting to come around on me. I'm quite the novice except for watching the Fast and the Furious :tongue3:, so please educate me. I've heard that wet is better than dry? How big of a shot should I run? Mods are in my sig, car has 100k miles. Thanks guys!

Wet is more controllable than dry also safer.

Thanks for the replies. Looks like I'll be going with this kit from ZEX: http://www.americanmuscle.com/zex-mustang-nitrous-96-04-v8.html and a 100 shot. I saw on youtube that an '01 Cobra with a baseline of 253rwhp made 349rwhp on a 100 shot. And it seems like a 100 shot isn't too much really. So with a dyno tune I can hope to make 380+ish rwhp with my supporting mods. Sound like a winner to you folks?

The HP gain depends on the kit. Some companies like zex use say a 100 hp figure and show a gain of 100 brake hp where as companies like NOS figures their pills at RWHP figures and its very important to know the difference, particularly so if your at or above 100HP pills.

That's not an accurate generalization. Wet kits can cause puddling, as specially in the 4V intake which is bad mmmkay. Nothing wrong with a dry kit but you have to manage fuel similarly to a boosted car.

I sprayed a 125 shot on my 120,xxx + non P.I. 2V for two years (about 120 times) and I never had any problems.

Now i'm at a 175 shot! lol

Sounds good guys, thanks for the good info. I'll probably have it tuned before I ever hit the button just to be sure everything is copasetic.

im also looking to install a nitrous kit this summer.

ive heard wet is the way to go and that anywhere from 75- 175 shot is reasonable, for the stock internals on our engines

the only thing is that i just got the new motor, and if something did happen to go wrong, it would void the 3 yr, 100,000 miles warrenty from ford.

i dont want to wait that long lol

Haha thanks man, yours is looking better than I remember!

Just to clarify, you said that ZEX's numbers are based on crank horsepower. So a ZEX 125 shot would be *roughly* equivalent to a NOS 100 shot which is based on rwhp?

Supposedly so. It's more of an important issue for those guys looking at say, 150HP kits. By then you start to hit the threshold for the stock internals. That's how i was explained it buy one of the gurus on M1R. I would read up as much as you can on the systems. I wouldn't go over 100 RWHP personally.

I wasn't planning on it with stock internals, I like to have peace of mind lol. Thanks!
