Well my car is in the shop and I got a call saying they need to replace some bearings, seals, shift fork and 5th gear selector. Just wondering how much did it cost you to rebuild a T-45 with labor? Idk what I should do I just brought it there to get my clutch installed the transmission worked ok..it had trouble getting into reverse which is where the broken shift fork comes in I guess? I am waiting on their quote which they said they should have by tomorrow morning. I am not too happy though :nonono:

Well this sucks big time. They said over $900 worth of parts + labor. So that is obviously not feasible. What should I do?

Find a used one for a couple hundred or buy a TKO.

The only problem is this needs to happen like today or tomorrow, I have looked on just about every forum I know of and then some. Also checked on eBay. Where do you suggest I can get the cheapest reliable transmission in a short amount of time?

I talked to these guys on the phone If I sent them my tranny it would work out to be $945. If I kept mine it would be $1045 but I would be able to sell mine. Do you think I would have trouble getting more than $100 for mine..? What it needs (with prices I was quoted) is 5thgear/reverse shift fork-$120, 5th gear for mainshaft-$140, 5th/reverse synchro-$120, complete bearing/seal kit, reverse gear for main shaft-$120, reverse gear for counter shaft-$160, 5th gear for counter shaft-$110

I'm not familiar with that company.

As for your used one, all it's worth is a core. I mean the only advantage to anyone buying it is they can rebuild it and then swap theirs with minimal downtime. It's basically junk... I wouldn't expect more than 100 out of it. But in sending it in, it has to go truck freight, which is 150...

You need to tell them to just install the clutch and limp it around until you can get a better trans, or let a performance shop with a good reputation do the rebuild.

The gear box chargesd $265 to overhual a T45 plus parts. http://www.thegearbox.org/page/page/4181800.htm

A master overhual kit from the is $247. http://www.thegearbox.org/catalog/item/3813517/4222352.htm

D & D Performance sales trans and parts for the Mustang as well. http://www.ddperformance.com/

KarKraft has used T45's for $675. http://www.karkraft.com/transmissions.htm

G Force does performance rebuilds. http://www.g-forcetransmissions.com

Modern Driveline: http://www.moderndriveline.com/Repair_Rebuild_Services.htm

That is all I can recall off the top of my head. Good Luck! :)

Yea I looked at The gear box but if you look at the list I posted the only thing that it really comes with is the bearing and seal kit....All of those gears are not included in the kit. I am considering just putting it off? The only thing that sucks is I will get charged the labor for everything that had to be done. I also talked to a friend who works for a company that sells T-45's so we will see. Thanks for the links and help btw O0 The transmission shifted fine..the only problem I had was getting it into reverse..He said he was surprised it didn't give me more trouble than that.

Well... I know it's alot of money, but if you can swing it you'll be money ahead in the long run if you go with a T56 or TKO, especially if big power is in the plans. Take it from the guy that replaced three T45's, four counting the stocker.

by design the reverse sucks in the t-45, if thats why they are saying it needs rebuild dont bother.

If you are looking to replace the tranny, here is where i got mine:

www.keislerauto.com

$895 plus $55 ( to my state) shipping got me their t-45R with 6 month 12k mile warrenty. even comes with their own short throw shifter.
reverse now goes in and out the first time, EVERY time, no pain in the butt or grinding.
there is a $300 core untill your old tranny is returned though.
