how to tell a roller?

hey guys i just picked up my new 351w's, there come out of 94 vans, i thought that all 351w's after 93 or 94 were roller motors? but when i pulled the valve covers off there were regular rocker arms, not roller rockers? the valve covers showed the 1994 manufacting date, but these motors were jasper reman motors so i know there not the originals.

roller motor would be the cam shaft. casting number on the block would tell you but being its a reman motor you don't know what was put back in it. easiest way to tell is yank the intake and pull a lifter

so it can have a roller cam in it with standard rocker arms? thats what i was unsure about, still learning the pushrod scene lol

the term "roller motor" does not refer to the rocker arms. It refers to the lifters.

once you remove the intake manifold and pushrods, you can pull these out and look at them to see which you have.
Getting a non roller block isnt the end of the world either. you can get conversion lifters (link bar lifters) and still run a roller cam

thanks guys, i know the differences actually as far as what each looks like and what they do i just wasnt certain that a roller motor came with or without roller rockers, but i do now, i just havent pulled the intake manifolds off yet but i will tomorrow afternoon, thanks again for yalls help.
