I want to put a new head unit and speakers in my car. i plan to order from crutchfield. i have not decided on a head unit yet but ill probably get a kenwood and rockford fosgate or kenwood speakers all the way around. i have the mach 460 and crutchfield sales the adapters to keep using the factory amps. so since ill still be runing factory amps, but different speakers and head unit will it still sound good

Sadly,
if you plan to replace the HU and speakers you'll have to replace amps aswell. I've haven't done much research on this but I've read and been told that the 460 system uses different ohm loads than just normal 4ohm drivers.

Can anyone confirm this????

yea i kinda read up on it an found the same thing. if i just bypass the amps then will i still get that nice bass the mach460 puts out or will it be like everyother car with aftermarket speakers and HU where it sounds slightly better but still wont have the wanted bass.

you can easily integrate/bypass the amps in the mach system. You really do not need any adaptors other then a standard ford hrns.

My only other concern is the speaekers, kenwood makes goo decks but there are better for speakers.

Your Mach has nice bass? i got ripped off.
im runnin a JVC deck and two 10.5" speakers and still dont have the bass i want. just about anything will sound better than stock mach, but if you want good bass look into alpine's R series speakers. Is a sub out of the question?

yea my mach system has a little bump especially to be stock it sounds way better than my probe did with pioneer speakers and a jvc HU lol. i do want a sub eventually. i want probably just a single 10 or 12. i dont want nothing big cause i use my trunk pretty regularly and plus i dont need to be beating down the block like some gangster, i can get chicks easier with my exhaust than with a beatin system cause when you hear a loud system you think turn that shit down but when you hear exhaust your pushing people out the way so you can see it lol even if it is a honda with a folger coffee can on it you still want to see how tacky it looks lol

your running a jvc deck TO AN AMP, to a set of tens or are you runnin the sub straight off the deck? any speaker bigger then a 6.5 needs an amp to push it....

you also probably do not have the remote turnon to the stock amps powered, or are running to weak of a signal to the stock amps. They take a speaker level output and throw it into the amp so when you use an aftermarket rca it has much less power. This can be fixed with a little box called a line driver.

Stick your ear directly next to a factory woofer and tell me if it is on or off.

we can fix it, my dad is a tv repairman with a righchoust set of tools, I can fix it.....

to integrate into teh mach system with a new deck and keeping the speakers you only bypass the tweeter amp which is really more of just a cross-over. You retain the stock woofer amps that stay in the back and then use passive cross-overs(1000 micro farad caps from rat shack for $20) to take the bass out of the 2.5's so they do not sound bad. Most people do not do this and then you have a 2.5" speaker playing fullrange with is bad bad bad.

The other problem you might run into is that the factory sub amps like a high voltage input that most decks do not provide through teh rca outputs. IF you notice that the stock woofers are not as loud as you would like them to be after installing it then look into a magikal little box called a line driver. This basicall a low level amp that will boost the voltage, check your local shop althogh egay has them for $30-whatever you want to spend on it.

To tell the truth it is not a bad system if you match it up with a 10/12 to fill in the low crap that the 6.5 just can't hit and would suprise you.

I show how to integrate into the mach system on page 2 of my cardomain page ride 2395420

ouch that sucks man. my speakers are good so i may keep the stockers and just get a nice radio and all the adapters and a nice sub. if i did decide to switch the speakers, since the speakers and tweaters are seperate could i just buy those expensive speaker sets that have the seperate speaker and tweater

if you have installed a deck and do not have the subs playing then you need to pull the deck and ensure the remote turn on wire is still connected.

Now if you only have weak bass and need to turn the bass up till the tweets are starting to distort it means you need to buy a little box called a line driver. It will give a low level bost to help the factory amps play better as they like a higher voltage input.

Man we need a stick on this......

I am in the process of redoing my setup, car had mach460, head unit is a pioneer and it has monster wires adapters to use factory amp

Right now I have infinity 6.5" 2-ways in the doors running off the factory amp which sound just fine, the weak link was the OEM factory mach tweeters, once had the outside edge deteriorating away, I replaced with a set of aftermarket tweeters and honestly, it sounded worse then if I had just unplugged them altogether

I ordered a set of infinity 6x8 components, going to wire these up in the front using the factory amp (for now, more info to follow) and move the infinity 6.5"s to the rear replacing the factory speakers there

This is just my temporary setup, soon to follow will be a 4-ch amplifier running all speakers (completely bypass OEM mach setup) and possibly an Infinity Basslink (vert has a small trunk as it is, dont want to loose anymore space to a sub box)
