so what if i get a new head unit and get the adapter to keep the factory subs and run some rockford fosgate speakers? i know they have built in tweeters, but would it matter if i just upgraded the mach tweeters too? Would the tweeter in the fosgate speaker play anything or not since the 6x8s only play bass

Sigh, the whole point of my mentioning the tweeters is to let you know that the OEM crossover points are not set to highs as much as they are midrange and your tweeters will sound like crap if you use the OEM setup

Hell I am even willing to send you my 2 month old pioneer tweeters that fit into the factory spot if you dont believe me

Options for tweeters:
1-Leave them alone
2-Replace them but leave factory wiring and have crap sound
3-Replace them with correct crossovers for the application

Since I am going components obviously I am going with #3

leave the factory tweets and those locations alone, they just sound bad. Move your tweeter as close to the woofer as possible and this will minimize the differences in the distance the sound travels and sound better. I run a 3 way 6-4-1 componant system with the 4 and 1 in the kick and the 6 in the door. You can always use the factory tweeters to run off of a bluetooth handsfree system if you wanted but hat is all they are good for.

that is a great way to make the mach shine and I show how on my cardomain page ride #2395420 page 2. It takes a little tweeking but you would be amazed how good the system can sound with a sub to fill in where the mach lacks. Hit me up when you are ready and I can walk you through it.

ok so your saying my best bet would just be to get a new head unit and the adapters to keep the factory amps and just leave the mach 460 speakers alone

Scott where do you get the connector for the amp that you have in this pic, the one u hooked the rcas into... that isnt hooked up in my car. I think thats why Im not getting any bass or anything from my back amps.

i guess i need to decide on which headunit and sub i want then. I know how to hook up a sub and amp and speakers and radio and stuff, but i dont understand the dynamic stuff of amps for the whole setup and what not but now since i plan to just keep my factory speakers and just change the radio and get a sub, as long as i have the harness from crutchfield that lets me keep the factory amps then ill be set with a good sounding system as far as the radio and speakers go correct?

Head unit is always the best starting point, just make sure you have plenty of preamp outs (front, rear and sub) to allow you to expand your system later on

As for amp/sub combos that like asking what's the best brand of gas, every single person you talk to has a different opinion

i know a little about amps and subs so i think ill be set there. not sure which amp ill go with, but as far as for a sub im thinking rocford fosgate. i had a rockford fosgate 10" in my probe in a kinda small box and i liked it so since i got more room in my stang trunk ill probably get a 12 in a slightly larger box and that should satisfy me, i dont need nothing too loud cause like i said before when you hear a loud system you want to tell them to turn that shit down, but when you hear exhaust you knock people out the way to see what kind of vehicle it is and i can get more chicks with my exhaust then my stereo

I actually soldered the rca's on there myself from an old set of cables that I was not using. I think schosche makes it under the model number fd03b. I think that very hrns is just in the bottom of my toolbox if you want it and can't find it.

Yeah I do want it... Thats probably why my amps are getting no power huh? I havent been able to find it anywhere.. and for some reason only the middle harness is the one I have goin to my deck, I dont know what the one all the way to the right is. I just bought the ford radio kit, and it came with the middle harness for me to splice into..

just for giggles, try checking your fuses and see if any that power the amps are blown. don't bother with the manual, just get in there and start pulling and checkin them and you will save a bunch of time and be sure that every fuse is good.

don't forget the box by that batt. I finally got out of the hospital after a 9 day stay and can see if I have that hrns if you want it. I had a nice rca cable that had a short so I cut the end off and soldered them on.
