Got a 95 Mustang GT with basic bolt on's and an e- cam. So the car keeps throwing these 02 fault codes and saying the computers running and lean condition. the car doesn't have any cats you egr or smog pump on it anymore. the car runs so rich that your eyes tear up. I can't really think of anything other than maybe a vacuum leak or fuel pressure regulator problem? The car is been tuning by SCT. Does anybody have some suggestions for me please.

How many miles are on it? What are the bolt ons? What are the codes?
when was the last time it was tuned up? (plugs, cap, wires, fuel filter, air filter, clean the MAF and IAT sensor)

115k miles. I do tune ups on the car on the dot. The codes are 172 and 176. The car has an e cam, c&l cold air, bbk off road x pipe. No cats. Bama tuned the car. New fuel pump, pressure reg, msd ignition system. 19lb injectors. The fuel pump is a year old but flows stock. No vaccum leaks and the injectors are spraying like they should. Oh and the o2's are both a year old but they are talking to the ecm. I'm losing my mind. Thinking of putting it on a dyno for the air/fuel and getting Bama make it fatter. It's just making me really nervous its my only ride and I don't want to torch a piston. The car basically makes you tear up its so lean.

If it's running rich but your getting lean codes, sounds like the O2's
Cleaning the MAF cleared my lean codes from the oil the K&N filter deposited.

You don't need to make the car "fatter". If it's throwing codes for running lean, yet it's running so rich that your eyes water you have an issues with a sensor most likely. The car just "thinks" it's running lean and is trying to compensate. Clean the MAF carefulyl with qtip and brake cleaner. Do the same with the IAT sensor right after it. Pull the negative batt cable. Start the car but don't touch the gas. Let it idle till the fan turns on. after that let it run for two minutes. After two minutes turn on ALL accessories to include A/C on highest setting. Let it idle like that for two minutes then go drive it. This should get you back to a good base idle and hopefully clear up any fuel trim problems. If it has ran rich (which it is from your description) for too long the o2 sensors could be fouled. Try these things then get back to us. It could always be an issue with the mail order tune however as stated previously.

The o2's are reading 1.22 to 1.33v at idle. I cleaned everything . I'm now moving on to a smoke test again to see if anything changed. The car does idle better. Now but still reading rich and throwing lean code. Oh And my long term fuel trim 0 % at idle and some other fuel trim 11. The Max I was told was 11?

OK so I just about isolated the problem. the car is pushing 34 PSI at idle whenever I hit the gas it goes up to 42 or so. it has a stock equivalent fuel pump it's only been in the car for a year. I pulled the vacuum line of the regulator with the car running and it jumps up to about 42 at idle. Carter the company that makes the fuel pump says that it pushes 51 psi. so I guess my question is is is it a fuel pump issue or do I just need to put a Adjustble fuel pressure regulator on it? oh and I just replace the fuel filter in it and it looked normal no rust or real discoloration.

How to check in with a vacuum line on and it was only pushin like 34. I thought it was supposed to be 39-45 with the vacuum line on and the car running? oh and I use compressed air to blow the fuel lines out. I thought maybe there is an obstruction in the fuel line but no such luck. Any ideas

Ford spec for the fuel pump KOER is 30-45 psi and KOEO is 35-40 psi. You don't need an adjustable FPR.

So I took the car to a local Mustang shop and they said the mass air was not reading. However I did replace about a year or so ago. So the new sensor is on its way and hopefully this will solve all of my lean codes. The bank 1 o2 was a little off from bank 2 but I'm really hoping this is it.
