I need to get rid of the PATS system.

just recently its been theft lighting me and dying. makes troubleshooting my 5.4 swap so much fun!

is there a way besides a tune? Snip this wire, ground this one and presto! or is it only shut off through tuning?
and i am not going to ford.... they want way to much to figure it out and fix it id much rather get rid of it completly!
as its a weekend warrior / strip car in the future i dont need it.

on older 3rd gen camaros you could wire a resistor into the harness and use standard cut keys was wondering if there was a a trick stangs

The PATS works like a password to unlock the car's computer. A wire snip here or there isn't going to disable it. It can be turned off with a tune, but that's it. And even still, most Ford dealerships will refuse to disable it anyway for liability reasons.

If its something that suddenly comes up after its been running then I got nothing fer ya as it sounds like its either some kind of communication err or just a general short causing problems. The ways I have to get around it are to trick it to think the key is in there but it requires some hardware to buy to do and if you are still having a err with the system you will not be any further along. Can't you turn it off from a handheld tuner and isn't that something you would probably get for this swap anyway?

Yeah, you'd probably be better off using a SCT Tuner, or finding a buddy that has one. Good luck.
