It did this about 2 weeks ago & it fired right off. Because it started back up, I didn't think any of it. It did this about @ 2. I let it set for 3 minutes & it started again. I forgot & I took it down to my closest convenience store. I got home to how I pull into my carport. Died in the middle of the road. I let it sit for :05, didn't start. I got help in pushing it out of the road. I let it sit for 1/2 an hour. Nothing! I called my car knowing & huge uncle. He got it pushed out of harms way. Will not start. He said he thinks it is the fuel pump. Earlier when it died in the road, I smelled gas. What do you guys think? Thanks!!

I have a 95 GT.

Not sure. I'm letting it sit & I'll try again. I'll try to listen for that.

im woiuld put money on it being dizzy. dizzy or maybe ignition control module on the pass inner fender. maybe smelling gas from being flooded from trying to start it.

did you check for spark? mine had same problems and left me stranded almost 2 hours from home. i finally got home after it died on me about a dozen times.

I don't hear worth crap now, but I don't think it did that. I am not smart enough to check anything!! That uncle checked the fuel pump fuse. We then pushed it out of the way. I just tried to start it, to listen fir that sound & nothing still. I didn't think fuel injected cars could flood.

eli you should be able to hear like a buzzing sound from the tank when you first turn the key to the on position.

you can hear the pump charge when you first turn the key but do not crank it. That is the high pitched squeel you should hear.

You should also check the inertia switch in the trunk drivers side. There is a hole in the trim and a red button behind it, push it....

1/2 tank of gas. That button, is that the same one you push if your car needs to kinda be reset? When I had my '90 Coupe, I had a blowout. I had to push a button like this. I have in my phone where this button is in case I ever needed it. If not, need more info about it.

90% sure I didn't hear that noise. My damn neighbors dog was barking. When there's other noises, really messes my hearing up! I am going to try it again in about :30, though, Thanks so much!!

If it's that, please give more info on where the button is. I tried looking & found nothing. Sorry, I'm not that smart when it comes to this. See ya!!

My mechanic just came to see it. He removed the dist cap. Not sure what it's called, but there's a piece under it. He wiped the little dust away. Then told me to try & start it. It fired right up! It made a low oil ticking. He said that might have been from me trying to start it. I let it run about :05, it stopped. He wants me to bring it by so he can look @ more tomorrow. No idea what it was. He said he could hear the fuel pump. Told ya I couldn't hear!

haha good deal man hope that was it. mine was very finiky sometime would start and run fine, others start and let it sit for 30 secs and it would shut off and not start for hours. I went ahead and bought a brand new oem ford dizzy and new ford ignition module. havent had a problem since.

Yeah, not sure what to do. Glad it wasn't nothing expensive, but then again what was it? Kind of it rather be something I could replace. He had no idea what was wrong.

My cap/rotor, tune-up stuff is 19,651 miles old. I did that on 7/31/06, though! It is time to buy new again?
What I bought:
cap
rotor
coil
wires
plugs
fuel filter
oiled air filter
ABS sensor
Speedo sensor

if he popped the cap off and fiddled with it i would try replacing cap and rotor button. wouldnt worry to much about plugs but doesnt hurt to pull them and see what color they are. ( like black, white, clean, dirty, etc....) wires i wouldnt stress eh fuel filter is a toss up. not a lot of miles on it just alot of time with it. letme know if i can help ya more

It did it again today. Found the problem, though this time. It had a loose connection where the wire plug into the coil. I think it how I was told? If it ever does this again, I know to wiggle that area.

Re: Car died & now won't start. Fuel Pump?

Eli. the dust in the bottom of the dizzy is the beginings of the dizzy failing for good. The first time mine ever quit on me was just like yours did. Took me over a month to figure it out. and I replaced everything trying to figure it out.
Remanned dizzy is about $125 bucks.

When you first hit the key the fuel pump will only run for about 5 seconds, till the dizzy starts turning.
Once the car is running the dizzy sends the signal to keep the f/p running, because if the dizzy isn't turning then the fuel pump doesn't need to be running either.

Re: Car died & now won't start. Fuel Pump?

I thought it was dust. I heard today when I brought it up he scraped off corrosion. Tint bit @ that. Not sure if that's better or worse?

I know not to 'think' stuff! I never get it right.

Oh yeah, 1 of the previous owners really jacked it up. See they had this prob as well. Instead if fixing it correct, they just screwed it a screw to keep it wedged in there.

I have a 95 Mustang GT. On my coil plug in thing, it shorted out. A previous owner of it had screwed a screw into it to keep the wire in there. Sorry, I don't know jack about what I am typing!! I talked with my mechanic & he says I need a part from a salvaged one. I need that connector thing. He said it is the plug in to the coil. Her said it might come with 1-4" of that wire. Let me know if you have this part for me. They southern-ingenued it for now. Thanks!!

Sorry, copied what I sent MPS. Where else can I get this from?
