I don't understand, you made the modification and yet you're complaining about leaving your headlights on? How do you even manage to leave them on don't you walk past your can and ever notice the headlights shining? If your tired of it then get rid of the modification...

I think that the OP is saying that his chime does not work.

Check/test the chime module, replace if necessary!

Mine chimes when the door is open, regardless if the key is in or the headlights are on...and I hate it!

The plastic piece that surrounds your key when it's in the ignition could be causing that, my '96 would almost all the time keep chiming unless I tapped that piece or barely moved it then it would stop. My '98 however doesn't do this so I no longer have to worry.
