Not really sure how I just stumbled across this but I was just reading that the v6 clusters only go up to 120 and a 4800 redline on the tach? If so, some fuckhead down the line put a v6 cluster into my car? What would that affect? Tach being off? Speedo being off?

It could also affect how many miles are on it. Say it had 150k on it, but the a**hole owner before you swapped out the cluster that reads 100k.

Yea, I don't know why anyone would put a V6 Cluster (120mph) on a GT other then to lessen the odometer mileage and or because it broke and he got it for cheap. That sucks man, I have had my 150mph speedo buried so many times I would hate for it to only go to 120mph.

Well it's weird bc the odo in it has never worked as long as I've owned the car so I actually have zero idea how many miles are on my car. This just ads to the odd things that I have discovered on my car since I bought it and was told it was previously a race car.
Broken power seats
no trunk carpets or mats or panels
no spare
an extra plate welded in? possibly nitrous or battery box?
giant tach
gawdy nazi skull shift knob
told it had a cam and was previously built but everything was bone stock except for the cold air, dizzy, wires, and coil.

Ive got the GT cluster out of my car I'll sell. It worked when I pulled it out. The only thing it's missing the electric motor that powers the odometer gears but that can be transferred from you existing cluster.

The tach I know is different, the 5.0 redlines before the 4.6 redlines on the tach. I got a Cobra cluster out of another 95 so mine was a direct swap.

if it was a race car in it's previous life my guess is they ripped out all the gauges and sold them to finance some other parts then when it came time to sell picked up any cluster out of a yard that fit and said done

That's what my assumption is. From what my uncle told me. I kinda think he's just dumb sometimes. Not too sure
