Whenever I shift gears, kick it into neutral or engage the clutch, my RPM stays up between 1300-2300 for a few seconds then drops down. I also notice that the pedal taps my foot when this happens. Anyone know what's goin on? Thanks, from a noob.

the rpms staying up is normal, the pedal tapping now that is new. They make an adjustable thingabober that goes on the IAC to adjust it or you can make an IAC restrictor plate.

What is the deal with the R's staying up? I'll have to research the restrictor plate thing...I've been meaning to pull it off and clean it up anyhow....can't hurt.

The IAC restrictor mod is a must for any mod motor. The pedal thing, I would check to make sure your throttle cable isnt fraying and hanging up sometimes.

The RPM's hanging up is common. Reason being the car senses you are moving. And to give you full braking/steering power it keeps the idle up in the tune to make sure you have control. A IAC restrictor will remove this. A tune could also do the same.

Pedal issue is not normal. I agree. Check the cable.

The clutch pedal pulses....I don't think the PO took their foot off of it between shifts or at cruising speeds because my TOB is also making noise. Not looking forward to that in a lowered car....I've been wanting to do the throttle cable adjustment, now would be as good a time as any. Thanks BigBore.

Just clean out the IAC, you can do the mod but you still should be cleaning it out with some seafoam or whatever you have. Normally when I do this for someone I'll make sure to clean the CAI, upper intake, throttle body / plenum and iac all together. Makes a big difference with some cars.

When you do that you can trace the throttle cable and check out what's going on with that. Could be something to do with the throttlebody assembly or the line, kind of a strange occurance if you ask me!!
