Be objective please, I know it's a Ford site, but the 92-96 SS is super sweet, and LT1's give me a chubby still. I'm finding them from 5-6k for 120k examples, I'd be using it as a DD. At 6'5" the idea of a land yatch really appeals to me right now. I figure it will ride like a dream, give me more than enough room, a decent amount of power with some ported heads and a decent cam, and still knock down 20 mpg, while looking cool. Plus with my refund check this year I can buy one outright if I go 9c1 or tow package Caprice instead of Impala.

Then there's the Marauder... For those who don't know, a Grand Marquis with a N/A Cobra motor. These are still 10-15k, but some still have warrantees. They are nicer inside, newer, and have alot more power potential than the LT1. But no matter which way you cut it, I'll have to get a car note to get one. LEss likey to break down on me though, more likely to be one owner, probably get's better mileage, still huge and even less known, so more sleeper.

So which would you guy's get and why?

Don't think you could go wrong with either, but the Marauders are just too sweet. 8)

FYI, my Cobra is being paid on at the moment, which is why a 9C1 Caprice is attractive, no extra payment.

Dark Cherry Metallic they call that one, it's my favorite as well. The local mousetrap lot has one that color with 100k on it for 6k, has a rip in the seat, other than that, flawless over and under. If it's still there on the 30th, I'll go get it I think.

ANother thing I thought of, 350 part's are waaaay cheaper than mod motor part's, and I already know how to rebuild 700r4's and have all the special tools to do it.

not to knock the ford (I can work on both fine) but LT1s are just easier to work on and mod.

There's an Impala SS in town that's black on black with a license plate that says "flwless". It's actually nice and sounds good.
Go with the Impala. No payments=mod money + 350's are cheaper (like you said)

I like the Maruader better as well...

but if money is tight and you can find a lower mileage example of an SS that would be sweet as well.

LT1's are still monsters, even though LS1 guys wont admit it. You are a cam and ported stock heads away from 400rw even through that auto. Just not possible in a 4.6 withouth FI.

I really like the Impalas but I have to go with the Marauder. I love the wheels, tailpipes, interior and 32v engine, plus at least around here they are more rare. Yes they're more expensive but they are a lot newer also. Just fyi the SS's were 94-96, 96 being the only one with the console shift (ftw)

Another opinion, you have a Terminator so who cares if you can't make this car a total beast?

I'm looking at 9C1's as well as SS's though. I'm not out to make it a total beast either, just respectable. I just want something reliable, that I don't have to justify driving, that I can also play with. My other options are FWD poo car's, so...

I've personally never seen a Marauder in person, they are more rare here too. Most people would have no idea what I had goin with that one. And the interior is very nice on them.

I'm probably going to get a B-body, just because it's cheaper, I don't actually disagree with anyone so far. It probably won't be an SS either, since I would pretty much cut or replace everything that made it an SS in the first place, may as well leave it for someone who would be happy with it. I can get a 9C1 for as little as 1500, which would leave me money for a trans rebuyild and all the maintenece I could do.

the marauders are nice, but the impala ss's are really nice as well, as previously stated the lt1's are easier and cheaper to mod than the marauder engines (just drop a cam in the lt1's and it sounds bitchin), i would defintely go SS, also throw some tint on it and your golden
