Just thought I'd share the excitement haha...Installed some 4:30's in the car last week just for sh*ts and giggles to waste time till the turbo goes in...going to take it to the track this friday to see how the car runs

what are you guys running at the track with these high gears? I have a 28" tall tire, so the gears will definitely help get the car moving...althought with the 3.73's on the same tire and solid rear suspension, I ran a 13.51@101 with a 1.97 60' (my best 60' that day was a 1.83, but missing 2nd)
i have the 4.30's in my 5.0 gt and i top out with a 26" tire im going up to a 28" this year and i was running a 13.4 at the end of last year on a 85 shot of nitrous and a catback & cold air .....this year ...lots will be different soo i will get numbers later on :coolsmiley:

Trav_19 : Thanks for the numbers! but only problem is that I have a 4v, so I have heard from many that with just exhaust and 4:10's and a sticky tire that the car can easily get into the high 12's....just want to hear personal experiences

I think just exhaust and 4:10's even with a 4V may be stretching the 12 ET mark, Im not saying it cant be done Im just saying it wont be easy. It comes down to the driver, the track conditions and the tires. Mines a 351W with bolt ons H/C/I Exhaust, gears and MT ET Streets and I got into the 12's, I hope you can hit 12's with just that amount done but dont go in expecting to do it, there are many factors.
Post up some times when you get back Im very courious on how well you will do, good luck!!!

alrightie! so went to the track yesterday, first pass was a dud...I launched at 4K and bogged (was testing the RPM to launch @ with the new gears...used to launch at 4500 w/the 3.73's), getting a 2.01 60', but then lucky me right when I launched the gas pedal got stuck under the floor mat. Missed 2nd and it popped out, so I got back in it and it got stuck again, this time going through the traps with the car hitting the rev. limiter. lol...greeeeeat! haha that was a 15.XX pass @ 91mph.
Next pass, do a real good burnout, stage up, luckily the car next to me was taking a while to stage so I had time to get my rpm's up...brought them up to 4500. Light goes down and I dump the clutch ( didn't give the poor car any mercy haha), and BAM!!...Would have been the best 60', I know it! lol Busted the rear end...Luckily my b/f trailered a customer's car out there, so we threw my car on the tralier, and drove the customer's car home.
Taking my car to the shop either today or monday to work on it, so hopefully I can 'upgrade' the rear end :-X lol. Going to install the 3.55's for the turbo, and since I only put about $200 into the built short block, I called the guy and told him to just sell it. I am going to start installing the turbo on the car how it sits right now within the next couple weeks, so hopefully real soon I'll have some new under hood shots to post up. :thumb:

how many times have you tried them out? 1.83 is pretty good, I ran a 1.808 the first time on the other style MT ET Streets so I know I can get better with that to. If you bogged just launch that mofo harder!!!

On those tires, the car has been to the track maybe about 3 or 4 times. The time I cut the 1.83 was the first pass I made with the new solid rear suspension + the tires.
