so i need a fire jacket. can someone explain the ratings? i talked to a bunch of guys there and lots of them just had the "cheap" jackets. so i still don't know what rated jacket i need to get.

I would also like to know this...
I had to get an one because of non OEM sc.

I couldn't figure out the rating so I just went to one of the shops that a bunch of the guys that were hosting the event. They handed me one, I bought it.

This is from the 2013-14 NHRA handbook:

10.00 to 13.99; all E.T. non-OEM supercharged, non-OEM turbocharged, or nitrous-equipped cars with an OEM or
.024-inch steel firewall:

Jacket meeting SFI Spec 3.2A/1 mandatory

yea i was able to find info on that. so i had one. jacket slipped by me. going to pick one up before i go out again. thanks again!

No prob, I had to go out and buy a new helmet myself for this year

I got the warning end of last season that my old one was expiring when I went through tech

it depends on what u plan on doing later the 3.2/A1 is good until 10.0 if u are ever planning to go to 9.99 or fast you need a 3.2/A5
the jackets never expire until u get to 3.2/A15.

The way the ratings work the higher the rating the longer it can withstand fire. I think the first sfi rating is up to 5 second ill find the chart
