Plugs are less than 3 months old and gapped to .054, same with the plug wires and fresh filters all around. I'm thinking maybe some clogged cats like someone suggested, good time for an O/R X huh. Added fuel injector cleaner 1 tank a ago. Going to clean the IAC tonight. I may replace the PCV also or I may not bother sense I will be doing an engine swap soon. I've only had the car since July so I've been going through it and replacing everything. Like I said though, I get 15mpg when I hammer on. As far as the distance on the highway about 3 minutes of town driving getting to the highway and about 7minutes on the highway and another 1-2 minutes in town getting to work from there. I use cruise off and on because its fairly flat. All the fuel mappings are the same as far as I know.

Also, for short trips ALWAYS make sure you let your car warm up!

i've always been told that but in reality what does it do to make your car run better?

Lets oil get to where it needs to go. Your car is more efficient when it reaches proper operating temps.

Problem is, you waste gas sitting there idling for 5 minutes :hammer:

You probably use more gas starting the car than you do letting it idle.

I meant like 20-30 miles trips..but yea...I do do a lot of short 5-10 mile trips so I guess that could be my problem.

As far as the leaner is meaner thing...I think it might be true.

I cant tell if my car is faster with the 93 octane performance tune vs the 87 octane tune

Maybe cause the 87 octane tune is lean.

I think I should have had my car tuned leaner.

Whats the a/f ratio on your car sxynerd?

I thought mine was 12.5:1

from what i understand also, that higher # gears such as 3.73's or 4.10's etc give you better city milage but less highway milage... kinda common sense though

I got 13mpg when I had 2.73's. Now since I installed my 3.73's I've seen anywhere from 13.4mpg up to 15.6mpg with mostly highway or at least half.

Nope, nothings wrong with my driving, had 5-speeds for a long time. I'm not the only 1 getting this kind of mileage though I know a couple people thats just as bad.

Stock tune, off-road H and weld in muffs, my '96 GT NPI 5 spd with 273s was getting 29 MPG highway, CC set at 74 mph, A/C on and 100K miles.
I put a Vortech V1 on it and the highway MPG didn't change. Same stock tune.
I threw in a set of 355s and the mileage went to 28 MPG.

With the PI motor it gets 27 MPG, stock '96 tune.

I dont get why its like you either get 28-30mpg or 18-20 mpg haha.

Auto waste a lot of Mpg I bet.

not really, distance play's the biggest factor in my mind... also the driving style and how well maintained and operational the car is.
