So I took two weeks off work to hang out with the family and get some work done. I have a 94 Mustang GT Vert with the aode. I got it about 6 months ago. Ive been slowly replacing the bad and upgrading. The tranny was shifting fine and the fluid was good. I just wanted to beef it up a little and get in and have a look at it. (I used to be a mechanic at a ford dealer back in 2000 or so and have seen the best and worst aode's). I got the pan and valve body down and everthing looked pretty good, cherry fluid and normal amount of friction material on magnet. I just wrapped it all up today and here is my take on it so far: Its not a slam in your pants kind of thing like I thought. I definately can tell that it makes the shift quick and doesnt think about shifting like it used to. I opted to drill the medium size hole, and also I didnt go for one washer under the 1-2 spring I went with three total, though the highest it says to do is 4 total. Overall it feels like a fresh new tranny that is a little bit agressive but not a crazy all out tranny. If you guys are planning on doing this and have any questions let me know.

Force Fed I see your running a megasquirt. I had one in my miata, it was a nice unit. How are you running it with the aode? what are you using to control the trans? Thanks for any help.

I left the stock ecu in place to control the trans cont. module, oem gauge cluster, and ccrm.. I just bypassed it on the engine, the two ecu's share throttle position sensor, and tach input signals but the megasquirt controls the engine timing, fuel and fuel pump system.... Basically the MS controls the engine but the factory computer sees what it's doing with a shared signal to know what to do with the trans , and can send that signal to the gauge cluster as oem computer does, just can't control the engine.. Only controls the drivetrain to accommodate for it..engine harness is all new from DIY auto tune, the rest is in best oem format as possible.. The trans shifts perfect and extremely hard considering its at the 450+ hp settings..

Nice. I saw DIY had the PNP for our cars but not with auto trans. I really like the Megasquirt interface and tuning setup. Maybe something I will look forward to in the future. I dont have enough mods yet to justify it, but I would love to get rid of the egr setup.

Yeah it's a nice and cheap tool for sure.. You can get a bauman aode trans controller, but I figured why not keep what it has and then if it needs tweaked, then I'll upgrade or swap for a power glide then, most likely the glide with a brake is the next upgrade for sure..

Everyone keeps asking me why I dont swap to the manual. I probably will eventually but not till the aode gives out. Its working well so I will leave well enough alone and focus on some other things like adding more power. Im about to install my edelbrock intake.

Its funny this is the only car out of the 4 I own that is a auto. I have a 2000 bmw 328ci with a 5 speed. (very smooth trans). 2011 hyundai genesis 2.0t coupe 6 speed, 94 acura integra gsr 5 speed also.

Keep the auto.. It'll end up faster with more mods and more aggressive trans work.. I used to be a 5 speed guy too till I got stroked by a built auto, stalled, on a stock motor, mine with bolt ons.. Shit was rediculous.
