Launching

What do you guys launch at? Everything I see is people launching well over 2k+ rpms. I have 4.10 rear, t56 6 speed, cai, full exhaust, and tune and I launch at 1100 rpms or I smoke my tires (275 nitto 555 g2’s). Just curious what everyone else is launching at and what’s done with what tires. This is on the streets of Mexico, but I’m curious about your street and strip launches

There’s some days I’m barely crawling out of bed at 12-12:30. Lunch is more like 4-5. [emoji38]

Not on the 96, but on my '93 at the track I'm launching at around 4500 with a set of bias-ply Mickey Thompson ET Street R's set at 15 psi.
I hadn't really tried them on the street, but they so hook better what little I did do.

Nitto's aren't near as good as the advertisements make them out to be! Get a better set of tires and you should be able to leave harder. Check out Mickey Thompson or M&H. Even the Toyo R888's are better than Nitto's.

I like the bias-ply with a manual transmission as they will provide a little cushion on the hit to help prevent broken parts. A radial tire usually either spins or dead hooks. And dead hooks are usually when parts start breaking.

When I'm in Mexico, and I dont mean New Mexico, but the actual contry. I like a 2,700-2,800 RPM launch while feathering the gas and slipping the clutch. This lets the tires spin and catch enough to get it out of the hole just fine. This is street tires and a 3.27 gear, stock stuff. The track would be totally different from Mexico launches, but I wouldn't take my car to the track if my transmission, gears, axles wasnt up to snuff.
