leaky AC line

This is a coolant line for the AC, right? I'm pretty sure it's leaking (and actually has been since I got my car). It always seems to have slime on the outside of it, and once in a while I get a whiff of what I think is burning coolant. Is it hard to replace? Do I have to worry about messing up the AC when I do it?

That is the A/C low pressure side line. The refrigerant contains a small amount of oil for lubrication purposes. That oil on the A/C line may be from the fitting if it's leaking ever so slightly. The problem with adding R-134a refrigerant yourself is the cost of the kit and not being able to measure the quantity of refrigerant needed.

That's what I was afraid of... So I'll have to take that somewhere to get the hose replaced then. It seems to have just gotten worse recently, although that line has always been slimy again the next time I look after wiping it off. Shouldn't my AC be not as potent if I'm leaking refrigerant though? Prior to installing my underdrive pulleys (2 weeks ago), my AC would have frozen a glass of water if you turned it up all the way...

Uh, actually... I had assumed that my AC not being as cold was due to my underdrive pulleys... Isn't that one of the side effects of underdrives?

No not usually.. Your a/c not being as cold as it used to means that you are low on refridgerant.. which is what you are leaking..
Get the a/c line replaced, and a/c systme recharged, and I bet it will be colder than ever. Especially if they add an addative called ICE32.

Confirmed. I no longer have AC. Crap. Guess I'll have to get that fixed... Or removed. It's my daily driver so probably fixed, unless its too expensive...

What do you guys think? Fix or delete?

I still have my a/c but rarely use it.
It's still there for the occational chance my wife will ride with me. Women are funny about getting their hair blown around.
I say keep it.
