Which would I be best to do?

A) buy the powerheads stage two package for $2700

or

B) buy some used PI heads, get them ported, get the 7000rpm valve and spring package, and comp 270s

Im not sure how much getting them ported myself would cost, or even a good place to send them off to?

Steen will rebuild and port them for 750, no one has complained about them yet.

So that's the cheaper option, I personally love Fox Lake, but they are pricey.

Well, pretty much anyone is cheaper than powerheads. And it would be nice to get real cams rather than regrinds.

my96gtsohc or whatever his name is has the name of the company that did their actual port work, so you can go directly to the source if you want.

Steen, from what I'm being told, is now working for another company called Performance Unlimited; but I haven't been down there to verify it.
I have a set of PI heads laying around that I was going to get him to port and install some cams in, so we'll see.

well, does anyone have a list of porting companies and phone numbers I could get? I did a search, but nothing really came up.

modular mustang racing, bennett racing, modular powerhouse, cushman motorsports, fox lake racing, and there are a ton more out there. Depending on how deep your wallett is depends on which company you are going to go with.

Cheap and fast do not go hand in hand.

MMR does a stage three for around 750 i think... but i think that is just the porting and nothing else... you might want to look into a good multiangle valve job... since thats were a deal of it comes from.

But for kit... just go with some nitros and be happy :eek:uttahere:

I agree with the cheap and fast. Thats why I was hoping for inexpensive, not cheap. There IS a difference lol. I guess the multi angular valve job would probaly be a good idea too then. BUT, I was gonna get high rpm valves and springs. Would they really make a difference?

If you go with aftermarket cams yes they do. What are doing to the bottom end? Honestly no big need to port the heads and go with big cams until you beef up the bottom end to handle the rpm's.

I haven't done anything with the bottom end yet. I was gonna get some comp 270 cams. RIGHT NOW, the car is for a senior project for school. I was gonna get to the bottom end this summer. I didn't think Id be pushing enough after everything, to over do it for the bottom.
