Does anyone know of a kit to add LEDs to my 1994-95 horizontal tailights? I want LEDs because I have tint and need brighter tailights. I haven't found anyone that makes a kit for 1994-95 specific. I already have the reverse bulbs just need the break light bulbs.

If no one knows of a kit can someone tell me the bulb codes so I can just track down each individual bulb?

and if there is not kit and I buy individual bulbs, what should I buy for resistors?

Oh wow nice. They come in the right amount too. Haha. Thanks so much Ferocious

So those will plug right into my harness I'd imagine but do I need resistors too? My license plate LEDs just plugged right in but they're small bulbs so idk if I need resistors for the bigger tailights bulbs.

Alright, thanks. Damn for $25 that's a really good deal. Wish I went to eBay for my reverse and license plate lights instead of American Muscle... I paid like $40 for the 2 reverse lights and $30 for the license plate lights.......

So incase anyone comes to this thread in search of an answer. Here is what I just bought.

I looked into it a little more. Turns out one of the sets of bulbs that Ferocious linked was wrong. The 94-95 horizontal style taillights take 2 different bulbs(not including the reverse light).
Bulb type #1 - 3157. There are 2 of these in each housing, and are the inner most bulb, and middle bulb. 4 are needed to do both taillights.
Bulb type #2 - 194. There is one in each housing. These bulbs are the outer most bulb on each side. 2 are needed to do both taillight housings. If you want to do the third brake light also, you will need 2 more of these bulbs.

Third brake light - 2 194 bulbs
Taillight housings - 4 3157 bulbs + 2 194 bulbs

Here are the links to make it easier, however I provided detailed information about the bulbs above as I know on older threads the ebay links break, and for anyone in the future that information is their so you can do your own search.
1 of these (4 per pack) - http://www.ebay.com/itm/33058478425...iewitem=&sspagename=ADME:L:OC:US:3160&vxp=mtr
2 of these (2 per pack)(I am doing my third brake light, so the second set is needed) - http://www.ebay.com/itm/30089622328...iewitem=&sspagename=ADME:L:OC:US:3160&vxp=mtr

I also ordered a cheap set of switchback bulbs for my front turn signals. Figured if they break, they where cheap as hell so I won't cry about it.

I will be updating my build thread (link in signature) with the before and after pictures. I am running 20% ( I think?) tint on my tailllights, so it will give a good example of how the LEDs can improve the light output.

Thanks everyone for your input and help. All these bulbs should be coming in around the 13th. I'm super excited.

Also: I spent $30 on all of those bulbs. For the taillight bulbs I spent about $22. Very good deal compared to spending about $60 for taillight bulbs for 96-98 cars, and another $60 for switchbacks.
I AM expecting to have to pick up a relay for my turn signals to prevent hyper flash. But I figured I'll order that later. Maybe there is a chance it won't hyper flash. Who am I kidding. It will. But I'll put that purchase off for now. Car won't be registered til this spring so it can wait.

194 Bulbs? Those are tiny! I didn't realize there was a difference in vertical & horizontal harnesses. My bad.

Anyways, I know it's too late since you placed your order but fwiw, you could go to a junkyard and grab 2 3157 sockets from some vertical OR horizontal tailights and splice them to replace the smaller 194 bulbs.
That way you'll be producing an even greater amount of light.

I have an old sequential taillight harness off my dads s197 that has a fried board on it that caused the lights to stop working... I've already cut a socket off to use on one of my front turn signals to replace a broken one. I could modify my housings. But the area that the smaller bulb fills is almost pointless. If I shoved a 3157 bulb in there it would barely fit, honestly.
Here is a picture I took when I first put on my tint. Added lines to show the divided 'sections' for each light.

And its fine with the confusion. That's the only reason I made the thread was because I didn't know the bulb sizes and knew there was 2 different bulbs.

But as you can see in the quickly photoshopped picture, there isn't enough space in that part of the housing to even bother upgrading the light size. I wasn't even going to get the LED for those sockets but they're so cheap so I figured why not. They're only a side marker, the 2 big ones are the ones that light up in each housing when braking.

I wanna see how it comes out. Even untinted these 94-95 lights are pretty dim.. Another reason I'd swap to a set of 96-98 tails.

Not to be a downer but you should have got red LEDs for your tail lights, with white LEDs and the red lens there's a good chance the light is going to look pink. the SMD are good if you get the 5050 size, you might have got the smaller ones which you may find aren't really brighter than the stock bulb.

For example you front switchbacks are listed as 240 lumen, stock bulbs are around 300. I wasn't happy with mine until I got 5 watt CREE LEDs.

All of the filament bulbs on my tailights are white so I don't think it will be too bad. With the tint I wanted the brightest possible light.

Also I'll be posting the pictures in my build thread. Should be getting the packages sometime Wednesday. Stay tuned :D

I understand, the difference is that most white LEDs light up cool white, not warm white like halogen bulbs. When you put cool white behind a colored lens the same color doesn't come through (led gauge cluster is a prime example), the rule of thumb is to buy the same color LED as the lens. If you wanted the brightest possible then you should have gone with high wattage LEDs, the switchbacks are listed as only 1.2 watts so I'll be interested to see the comparison of stock vs those.

Oh well we shall see. Didn't really put too much thought into it. They're cheap as **** so if I have pink tail lights I won't cry about it. Not gonna be registered til this spring so that gives me time to switch them for the proper ones. I only spent $30 on all of them. And if I got them off say, AM, or something it would cost be upwards of $150-$200. Lol
