lets talk seat options

slowly getting everything in my interior back together and the drivers seat is starting to act up and have issues. I took it apart tonight and its the switch/wiring to it I would need to replace and even then the motors feel like they are about to fail. With the new black carpet the old grey seats look even older then they use too and might get moved up to my short list of stuff to do. Originally I was going to get these seats recovered as I like the adjustable bolster and lumbar support. I can't find anyone that makes a slip-over set and talking to local shops to do a good job they are saying $7-800 with some good material at the cheapest. Not sure I want to put that much into seats I am afraid the electronics is going to go out on me(more/again) as for that price I know I can get some ok-good race seats. Lookin on ebay seems like they have some that seem too cheap in $$$ to really seem like something that will last or worse yet work as designed in the event of a crash. After that it seems like the seats jump up to the 12-1500 range pretty quickly and none look like styles I like. What do you use/recomend for a seat that I would need to be comfortable for drives and last/hold up if needed in the $800 range?

If you can, go somewhere where you can try them out. Not sure if you have any shops like that local. But actualy planting your ass in the seat before you buy is a good thing.

The other option is to find seats from another Mustang or model, maybe something newer. I like some of the S197 performance seating options, not sure if they fit. Probably stay away from the fixed back, aside from not being very comfortable with lack of adjustment the back seat will be useless.

Agreed with the above. My fixed back Corbeau was so secure but these Procars keep my back seat useful and allow me to use my stock belts day to day.

Still love my Summit seats, I just had an issue with one seat frame breaking and they sent the new one out same day without waiting for me to return the old one

I wish there were places here that I could try them out but no luck and it seems everyone has stock seats and maybe a seat cover around here. As important as it is for both comfort and safety I want to get something good in both areas as well as not hideously ugly. Can you post pics of your seats if you have aftermarket seats in there? We need a seat sticky...

It all depends on personal taste and wealth. I looked for a couple of months on EBay and found all three seats out of an 04 GT for $150.00. After installing them I sold my old ones for $125.00. The aftermarkets are better seats but I didn't want to come off the $$.

If you can pull it, I would highly recommend Sparco street seats. I've got a pair of Torino II in my car. They are really comfortable, I've driven it for some extensive time. They hold up well to abuse as well, and ultimately the construction is a lot stiffer than most of the cheap ebay seats. Bolsters don't flex out of the way like they would on most of ebay copies. I've checked today, and it looks like Sparco has a new entry level seat, which costs about half of what mine did new. I can't vouch for comfort level of that seat, but mine are superb. Also, don't get a fixed back for street. That's really more for racing. Non recliners on the street are annoying and impractical.

yes, that's the one. I'm just not 100% sure how comfortable it is. It looks pretty flat by comparison to how my seat is, I see very little cushioning.

the only way to really know is to sit in a seat.... go to a road course during an event and I'm sure one of the drivers will let you try a seat out...

the bottom or back is flat? It says the bottom is suspended so it sounds like it gives in the middle then, might breath better too - dunno. So far that is the leader. I like termi seats but now the factory leather is starting to get old and in the next few years if they have not been well taken care of will really start to show their wear.

What I've meant is that my seats have more padding, so mine look a little more comfortable. These should still be fine though, Sparco does not make crap.

Yeup i really like my Corbeau's, I was choosing between these and the Sparco Chrono Road. They are very similar in style, shape and price but what turned me off about Sparco was the price on the seat bracket, they sell you the bracket, sliders and hardware all separate as opposed to the Corbeau's that sell you the bracket all in one peice.

Those GTS II's look really comfortable, I also like the look of the A4.
