Saved my brother in law from buying a creampuff flood casualty and on my recent quest for a new Mustang I found in the report that it had the ball joints replaced at 24K which lead to me finding out the lowering was not done right. Reports are not a panacea, just another weapon in the arsenal to find the right car. Sure worked for my most recent purchase, got a primo 2002 GT, I prefer to check all things possible and especially since it is a small amount of money if it does highlight something.

It could be the same way even with 2 owners. And what's a carfax going to tell you about the mechanical side of things? Also, it's very simple to get around those reports if you wanted. Not all body shops are entering your Vin and info like big name shops. You could be jumping in a car that's had the front end ripped off but because Jimmy took it to his brothers, girlfriends cousins shop, you're not going to see it on the Carfax. I think going by the amount of owners when trying to buy a car is pretty pointless. I mean if you find a car that looks and runs good and you pass on it because of the amount of owners I think that would be foolish. If it checks out after doing a thorough inspection and taking it for a ride then you're good. Now if you don't take the time looking over it then you're bound to get ripped off. I've bought and sold countless cars in my 38 years and have never had someone ask how many previous owners there were.

You know what chris? Everyone has their own way of doing things and i dont go and talk shit or question the things you do so how about you stop being a critic of everyones personal methods of doing things

Last time I checked this was a public forum and if you can't take some constructive criticism then your in the wrong hobby. Please show me where I talked shit about it? I was questioning the true value of it and giving my opinion. Don't like it, don't f**kin read it, simple as that. And if you have such a problem with me then block me dipshit...

My 302 had it when I bought the car. Oil looked dirty but not milky. Drained oil and it was fine. I just pulled that motor after 100k plus with no issues.

As weird as this may sound, taste the oil. Taste buds are very sensitive and if there was anything contaminating the oil, your tongue would tell you. I've done it a few times and surprisingly it works. I'm not talking about drinking it, I mean a little dab on your finger and touch it to your tongue. If it only tastes like oil then you're good to go.

Fyi, this was taught to me by an old timer. I watched him taste sample his oil one day and thought he was nuts.

The oil cap is the highest point of the crankcase. Take it off carefully in the same position it was and examine under the cap. Looking for a drip. If that drip is watery, moisture is entering the crankcase. Could be a crankcase breather cap previous owner put on. The other is piston ring blowby. Next step, pull the sparkplugs, examine which cylinder it is. The plug will be black.

That oil was dirty as fawk!!!!!! Looks about 20k overdue!! Lol

But the good news is that as dirty as it looks there is no coolant in that oil. Fill it back up with some good synthetic and let it rip tater chip!!!
