My friends 95 gt 5 spd is really low on power. It pulls ok at best off the line, no second gear scratch, then gets beat by 99 v6 convertible with three large people in it. We checked the plugs, and it appears to be running lean. The only mods done are flowmaster 3 chamber mufflers on stock exhaust system, and we installed some 3.73 gears in it in the fall. It runs smooth, gets decent mileage, really don't know why it's so low on power.

No its simple buy the right cleaner, remove the MAF, Spray out the MAF sensor (little hole at the top) really well. Let dry for a few minutes and re-install.

you will need a torx bit to get the meter off. Cant remember the exact size, or you can just spray it with it still attached to the housing.

Buy a can of MAF cleaner!! They sell it at autozone for sure. I used it to clean mine recently and it worked like a charm!!

How many miles does his car have? If it's alot, the top end could be lazy due to worn valve springs. My stock motor had 250k+ and was a turd with full bolt-ons and 3.73s. Fresh motor fixed that :)

well, that worked alot better than I thought it would, I was a little sceptical at first. I bought the maf cleaner at advance auto for like $7.50 or something, and it's like a whole new car. It doesn't spark knock anymore and pulls like a champ, even got a decent third gear chirp out of it earlier. It has about 125 or 130,000 miles on it now to answer the other question.

Just for the future..

All MAF cleaner is, is quick dry electrical spray. Pay $3.00 instead of $7.00

sweet dude.. what do you have the timing set to?

agreed.
you can get with a little advance in the timing. stock is 10*, I'm running 12*, some others are running up to 14*. If you do this you'll need to upgrade to a higher octane gas to prevent pinging. If your unfamiliar with doing this, get a haynes/ chilton manual and it'll walk you through the timing procedure.
