Once again, I disagree. I've yet to see a modular put out near the NA power of any pushrod ford or LS based motor. Cobras included. John Kaase built a STREET boss 429, made 835 horsepower, on a mild camshaft, at like 6k rpm. And like 800+ ft/lbs of torque at 4200. We don't need superchargers bow, or injectors or computers. A good carb, intake, and heads, match up a camshaft, and she'll lay the numbers down.

oh i'm not talking about power, i'm talking reliability, crank up and go credit. pushrod makes powa...... but there is no doubting that a 30yr old car is going to be less reliable than a 5yr old car...... i know people that have built entire motors/trans/suspensions and still been unable to drive their classic cars because something ALWAYS goes wrong, its the nature of the beast.

so you want a daily driver to "tinker" with? sounds like a project car to me. a daily driver is a car you walk out, hop in and crank up, popping the hood only to clean the bay. atleast to me.

that car looks pretty rough for $2-3k though, but your area might be different than here. around here there is NO market for that generation el camino.

i think its a really bad idea.. for a dd... for a project yes, but to daily drive and work on it no. keep lookin kid.

I was going to say the exact same thing...you don't want a DD as a car that you mess with and "learn on"...then ur just going to end up taking it all apart, and it will never be your actual DD. If you want to "tinker" with the el camino, sell the Mach and buy a TL for a DD

ok i'm say that the EL is one of my favorite $hit-or-lays but take it from me that has a 305 and a quad-junk carb. buy a FORD trust me

wow, you're looking at things backwards. your mach is the perfect daily driver. you arent financially well off enough at such a young age to have a $20k weekend cruiser.

now if you want a car that can actually be maintained for little to nothing and keep the miles down on the mach then grab a cheap $2000-3000 honda civic. a classic car is HORRIBLE to daily drive. it could be in mint condition and you'll still constantly have little querks to work on. stuck thermostat, busted hose, slipping transmission, brakes going out, etc...... its just not worth it unless you are a full fledged mechanic, i am and i'd still think very hard before purchasing a daily driver older than me.....

and whoever said the SS came with a 350 is wrong, all of the SS came with a 305HO out of the iroc-z...... nothing wrong with a 305 though, just bad gas mileage and less power than a v6 stang!!!!

I couldn't agree more. The Mach is prolly more reliable then anything you could find for cheap. Understandable that you don't want it hurt, but cars are made to be driven. They're never going to be perfect.

And if you really want a DD get something with 4wd. At least make it usefull in harsh weather.

Get a 1992 Ford Escort Wagon, good on gas and will keep you out of trouble. Just think, you could go pick up chicks in your Mach and take them back to "your place" (the escort wagon) where the waterbed is, and knock the bottom out.

305 and 350 are the same size externally. have to look at block casting numbers to know for sure which it is, all SBC sound the same stock aswell....

i'd pay $800-1200 for it and do an LQ9 swap keeping fuel injection and the 4l60e, but as a project not a daily....

$500.00 for transmission service
$400.00 for window
$200.00 for windshield
$65.00 for new windshield repair
$30.00 for alternator
$10.00 for a new belt
+ $tax, title transfer, plates, and emissions.
...... now it at least RUNS. lol.
