Oh I completely agree that yes there are better options, but I wouldn't rule it out as a bad option persay. Hell I went and bought me my 04 f150 a month ago. Automatic, V8, Cold AC, power loaded out everything. I needed something to drive that wouldnt cook me alive in the summer. I will say that in alot of cases, that camino would be 10x easier to work on and cheap as hell to keep up with. It's a choice. I've never cared for el caminos, but they are still good trucks. My vote is get it if your alright with living without different creature comforts.

I figured as much. It's no cadillac but it'll get you to where you need to go. Thats all that matters

A/C is pretty amazing on 100 degree 95% humidity days. If it's there use the shit. I've been driving for 8 years and this is honestly the first year i've had A/C. It's pretty badass. lol

my car runs like shit with a/c on. so in hot, humid, miserable, weather i just leave it off, turn the windows down, and i feel fine once the car airs out with fresh air.

what do you mean your car runs like crap with the a/c on? Is it broken?

it feels like the car cant handle the a/c being on. my car alraedy runs not like it should and the a/c makes it worse.

so why don't you fix the problem instead of just not using the a/c??

because theres just certain things i cant do. i also need a vehicle to get to and from work which is the mach so it cant be in the shop really. i also dont know much about cars, but im workin on that problem. but right now itll run just great without a/c and sometimes itll run great with the a/c but most of the time it runs like crap with the a/c on and sometimes with it off too.

about eight or so years ago some guy wanted to trade a restored older el camino for my dads 91 f150 (truck was mint at the time with about 45k miles on it).

my dad didnt want to trade,

the truck is now rusted out and worth about $800

the el camino is easily worth $8k... :angry7:

My grand dad from the mid 60's to the late 70's bought and sold a large number of el caminos. He'd buy them brand new with the steel wheel package. He had a set of hub caps he bought in the mid 60's that are fake mag hub caps. I still have them. Been on every one hes ever owned. I got the whole set.

lol I think I'd give you that reaction as well.. I was thinking.. "You own a Mach 1 and it runs like shit with the AC??? Not good" My 16 year old 5.0 runs beautifully with the ac on, albeit it's still slow. lol

Removing the A/C really has no benefit either, and damn it's nice on 100+ days when you have to go to work and don't want to arrive in ball soup. Not to mention my exhaust heats up my center console area something fierce. It's really a dumb debate, but for the first time in my 8 years of driving I've got AC. And damnit I'm gonna use it! lol
