Mach 460 issue

I tried a search and didn't really find what I was looking for.....I have a '94 Cobra with the Mach 460 system. When the engine is off it sounds great. When the engine is running it makes this deafening roar. It's unrelated to volume. You can turn the volume up loud enough to cover the roar, but I'd rather not do that. I disconnected the amps and the roar is gone, but Led Zeppelin now sounds like am sports talk radio. Does anyone one have any idea why it does this?

The wires were loose on mine, causing the noise. i zip tied the wires, and it stopped.

Thanks. You're referring to the wires that plug into the amps?

ya, the wires that plug into the amps. I guess when they move, it makes the stereo tweak out. Im clueless as to how it fixes it other than keeping it from shorting out, but whatever.

Yeah, I don't understand why it would work either especially since the wires appear to be taped pretty together pretty tightly. It's worth a try though. Thanks.

Ithink they move in the connectors, making a short. just a theory.

go back and see if wiggling the wires while it is running makes any difference and see if you can narrow it down to one hrns. If that doesn't work then try taking the stereo out and do the same for the harness to the deck.

I tried that for both. It does make a difference for both. The passenger side is more of a problem. If it's plugged in the sound is unbearable. The driver side is just annoying.

pull off the hrns and try some electrical contact cleaner on it. might just be a corroded connection.
