ive been seeing alot of guys getting a mail order chip tuned for their setup. im just wondering how effective is this as compared to an actual dyno tunning, if they are even comparable. Just wondering as it seems to be a little bit more cost effective, or should i just save for a few weeks and get an actual dyno tune? I dont drive my car really, and if i do ive only boosted it once. Im runnin at 10 psi so thats why. How it works, what it does, and whos reputable. thanks

Lasota Racing, is who I've used. My only other mail order tune was from Modular Depot, and it sucked.

It works like this though. You go to the local go fast shop (I mean your average hole in the wall place), most of them pull a base file similar to your combo from SCT, and load it into your car. Run it on the dyno with wideband, see it's not going to blow, and send you out the door 3-5 hundred lighter in the wallet.

A mailorder company does the exact same thing... Without the wideband (which around here is 75.00 for three pulls) So you don't know if it's dangerously lean or rich without the wideband.

Lasota, let's you datalog (as you're czr is a 95, I dunno if it's applicable for you), then checks the logs, and makes fine adjustments, for no additional charge. Most don't do that.

Ok, so all i would need to do is contact them with my mods and they would burn me a chip? im all the way out in washington state and there is 1-2 shops even capable of tuning within a 150 mile radius, and they charge like they are too.

Yep, I mean continue to shop around, but I haven't heard of anyone unhappy with Lasota, and, just to be safe, make a few pulls with a/f to see where it's at.

I'm going to try a tune from Brenspeed so I'll see how that works, I'm not expecting miracles but if I can drop a 10th or 2 I would be pleased.

only thing a mail order tune is good for is getting your car from the garage to the dyno for a dynotune if you have any kind of power adder :thumb:

nice man :thumb: i like them things alot except they are so expensive. I was looking to redo my entire cluster with the old style 60's gauges but it would have been roughly about 1000 to do it right, just for the gauges and wiring.

ya man theyre not cheap compared to other gauges, but the quality is 1000000x better than autometer gauges, and my friends have nothing but problems with theirs, i have yet to have any kind of hiccup with mine
