Hey guys, maybe you can help. Im looking to get a cervinis 00 R hood. The hood isnt functional, and I could swear a couple years back while surfin through MM&FF I thought I saw for sale the vents you could install to make your cowl hood functional. Does anybody know if its possible to pick up something like that? Just to be clear, I'm talking about the back cowl part that faces your windsheild (not the top part of the hood). Thanks guys.

I've wondered the same thing. I have a 95 r' style hood, and it has recessed areas that look like holes should go, but I'm unsure. Someone correct me if I'm wrong, but I want to say the 95 cobra r has a hole only on the drivers side... I should do more research.

Mine had open vents on the back part, but the top decorative vents werent functional.. that always bothered me, and if I even get another 2000r style hood, that will be fixed...but I'll probably just get a regular cobra r 3.5 next time.

Mine had a single piece that went along the whole back side of the good held in with rivits. I drilled them out and took the piece off.

why would the cover that up? It seems like it would help to get the heat out of the engine bay even just at idle not to mention at speed.

Venom, I bet your hood moves out some air! I could have sworn that some companies sold the vents so you could cut out a hole and put the vent on. They were in the shape like Onyx's hood (only on the d-side). Any body have an idea of what you could use as a vent/screen to give it a "factory" look?

when you're driving air is actually going in, heat definitely comes out when you're stopped though.

do yourself a favor :) I was planning on buying one, saw one at willow springs on a racecar. quality is great and it's full functional. same cost as a cervinis hood so you're saving money..

either way it is moving air out of the engine bay so it would cool it. But I still don't understand why they would cover it...

you have a choice to get the cowl slots or not when you order. the racecar I saw did have the cowl slots.

That is awsome, I wouldnt really like the top vents open, just because its my daily in the summer. I think it would be a little hard to keep crap and the rain out. But I love the look. If it was my cruiser I get both open.

If you read the description of the 2000R, you would see that it lists the hood as "...has gills that can be cut out to reduce engine compartment temperatures." So, not only are they non-function on the real car, but they were designed with the intention of making them functional if you desire. So you're always gonna buy the hood with non-functional vents, and if you want them functional, then that would be up to you to do.

I found some fairly stiff aluminum that would make a good vent when I was downstair last night. It is called gutter gaurd and is made to keep krap from collecting in your gutter. It is somewhat stiff but really easy to work by hand, and has large enough holes that it would impede the flow of air only a little bit. Looked like it is paintable as well if you wanted to paint it to match or just black.
