Well i have a coolant leak and it seems to be coming from the radiator so it looks like i'm going to need to replace it.

Does any one have any experience with Mishimoto brand radiators or have heard anything about them? They are alot cheeper than most i have been looking at and thats the main reason why i am considering them. I would prefer not to spend 500 dollars on a fluidyne by the time it gets shipped up to me in Canada.

I would never buy a fluidyne. I have heard good things about Mishimoto, and although it sounds chinese or something, they are actually american made.

That was my first thought, but that link was very informative and looks like there have been a few happy customers. You cant beat the price. Thanks. i will update this thread when it comes it + installation.

Re: Mishimoto Radiators? What do u think

So I finally got it put in last week and I figured I would drive it for a while before I shared my experience.

The rad itself when i received it was in excellent condition. It looked very high quality. The Install was very simple and easy almost fits in perfect. I had a little trouble maneuvering it around the A/C pipes which are not very flexible at all. Other than that it fit very nicely. Its a lot wider than stock to it does come closer to the pulleys but nothing to worry about. I've driven about 1,000 kilometers on it so far and i have had zero problems. As far as how it performs I'm not entirely sure b/c I'm from Canada and it isn't exactly warm here yet and i was never having cooling problems. i replaced mine b/c my stock was leaking. I will say that my gauge has read 1/4 from a full day of racing around very hard.

Anyways i took some pic's for anyone who's interested in Mishimoto radiators. Oh and from my experience, i would recommend

This has been beaten to death on the Corral, but I'll put in my .02...

I've had TWO $400+ Fluidynes personally fail on me. I'd rather have two $200 radiators fail than two $400 radiators fail.

Paul.

I'd re-install that plastic panel that used to cover that space. If that's not sealed, the air will just go right over the top of the radiator, resulting in inadequate cooling.

I would just do it for looks. In reality, it won't make much of a difference. BUt theoretically it won't cool as well.

It will make a big fat difference if you're racing for longer than 11 seconds. Check the sig. Any flow lost through the radiator is cooling lost.

The plastic cover that goes over the Radiator/Electric Fan is for looks. It has nothing to do with engine cooling.

People say that front air dams on mustangs don't help cooling either, but those who say that never once ran their car at constant 3500+rpm range at wide open throttle for 30 minutes or so when it's 100F+ outside. The simple matter of truth is, any airflow not going through the radiator is cooling lost, which is why every single bit helps. One of the most efficient cooling mods for road racers is boxing the radiator in, so that the air that gets picked up by the air dam, has only one place to go, and that would be through the radiator. Not only is the top cover necesary, but it's vital for good cooling at such conditions as, say Willow Springs in July. Some people, including me went one step further, and fully boxed in the radiator, fully sealing it from the sides as well (using what factory gave you, and builind upon further upon that).

well thats al fine and dandy BUT I'm pretty sure he daily drives this mustang so running at WOT for 30minutes is irrelevant. I know what your talking about though and yea in that situation the panel may help. But to tell him that not putting back on that panel for a daly driver which probably rarely sees over 65 and over 4000 rpm just isn't viable. I don't doubt you race and all that but in his case its not gonna make any difference. In someones cases like yours then yea put it back on.

If i had that piece i would install it. Never came with the car when i purchased it. It is a DD so i don't really need it, but I'm going to see if i can pick one up at a junk yard for aesthetic purpose.
