My friend had a Modular Mustang Racing street/racing oil pump fail on him.
It ended up costing him a engine. The oil pumps that Modular Mustang Racing
sells are obviously inferior. After the oil pump failure it was in peices and we
inspected it and come to find out there was no debris ingested into the pump either!

Good thing I bought an 03/04 Cobra oil pump!
Good indeed the 03/04 Cobra oil pump should work out fine for you.
I would avoid all the Modular Mustang Racing oil pumps like the plauge.
My friend lost a expensive engine because of their oil pumps.
Now we boycott all Modular Mustang Racings products.

Thanks for your kind thoughts he is slowly building his engine.
I help my friend turn wrenches on my days off and help him out on what products are reputable.

thats awesome. the only thing I still am highly considering get done from them is their port/polish service on my PI heads. There really isnt a single shop that is touching them with their flow numbers vs. price. Now more major components such as the oil pump/forged rotating assembly I have read the links you have posted....but I havent found a single thread about the poor port/polish job they do

There are other people how have had their Modular Mustang Racing oil pumps fail on them too
aspecially on the Corral and Modular Fords.
That guy Chris from Modular Mustang Racing really showed how unprofessional he was in your thread.

I wouldn't give Modular Mustang Racing my business.
If I were you I would get my PI cylinder heads ported by Livernois Motorpsorts.
Going the cheap route on getting your PI cylinder heads ported is not always the best decision.

That was a common issue on 4.6 oil pump gears a few years ago, stock-MMR-SHM etc were all having problems with the billit and stock gears.

The problem sometimes comes from the wrong dampeners/balancers being used and vibration destroying the pump gears. This is why people say never use the piggy back style UD Pulleys on modulars.

Sean is one of the 3 people I know of that had their mmr pumps cause catastrophic failure at 600+hp. The Cobra pump is so much better for the average builder. IMO if you're over 700, you should have an external pump to be as safe and efficient as you can. Which is what Sean is doing now.

MMR is a good company but they have a few issues that should give concern. Like this pump and that they nickle and dime you to death if you want extras. Their logic of NA cams being all you need for blower cars is pretty screwy as well. My mmr shortblock is great thus far and when I build the next engine, I know to do it all myself just for piece of mind.

They also think they are going to pull 500rw from an NA 2v too, which is pretty ridiculous.

Livernois is over priced and I can't stand them. Living down the road form them, I've dealt with them off and on for about 5 years now and they've put out some seriously nice engines but they are scam artists. When you go to L. you're paying for a name. That may be good or bad.

As far as boycotting businesses, that's a little extreme but from your previous posts I can tell it's just your personality to be extreme.

I disagree MMR is NOT a good company to do business with.
They have mixed reviews for a reason I belive and me and friend
will continue to boycott them forever.

One more little thing about MMR, every engine I know of that's been ordered from MMR has been late on delivery.

One example of how they nickle and dime you, they try charging $60 for an aluminum Plenum adapter plate and they did charge me $60 for a dowel kit that should have only cost, $10.

People are entitled to opinions, I understand just as much as the next guy that parts fail (working in the industry) and stuff happens. Lets let the pictures speak for themselves and let everyone have their opinions and be done.

Billet oil pump gears FTW....

The MMR is just a Ford Cobra Pump stamped with MMR in it. The differences with all these pumps is the gears.
You have stock, MMR Cryo treated stock, and Billet Gears as replacements.
