As most know or don't, I have my gears and we are getting them installed ( hopefully weather permitting ) this month; March. I was thinking about get a new aluminum driveshaft ( every time I say driveshaft...DRINK ) to go with it, but now I am second guessing my decision. So here is my ques-ge-ion.

Is it is worth it to get the Driveshft done now while the car is in the shop? Or should I save the money for some other Mod that will be better for my car? Like Long tube headers or some maybe I dunno something better. And then do the driveshaft later...I am sure it will be in the shop again..LOL!

I will save $300 dollars by not purchasing a Aluminum driveshaft. Plus install which is minimal. Which will give about $600 to play with..

I guess because the driveshaft seems like not a fun mod, is why I am having the problem.....but I prolly should just get it....ahhhh decisions decisions..

If you're doing gears, I would probably do it. It seems most people(myself included) get a bit of vibration from the rear after installing gears. Whether this is from bad install, or the increased RPM's, i'm not sure. But, most people claim that the aluminum driveshaft gets rid of this. I'm personally wanting to get one myself.

I would say no to the drive shaft. $600 would be better spent somewhere else. Is this for the '94 in your sig?
yes the 94 is what I am talking bout!

$300 should be all that it costs for a driveshaft... or so I would hope.

well I'd save $300 which I could add to another $300 which would give me a total of $600 to spend on something else...but I think forgot about that problem with the Vibration...thanks for the reminder on that issue. I mean it is only going to put me behind about 2 months, so it's not to big a deal.

I have an aluminum DS on my car and it felt smoother the day I put it on. With that said; I didn't feel anything else. My car did not vibrate after my gear install at all but I just put it on bc I had nothing else to buy haha.

I'd say skip it and spend the left over monies on Long tubes and o/r X pipe. The fun factor there is much more worth it; not to mention the exhaust tone. Idk how 5L cars with the T5 are affected by a gear install but I assure you I felt no vibrations with my weaksauce T45 paired to my 32 valve. That's with 4.10's.

When i did my gears i didnt get a noticeable vibration. Why do you want to do the driveshaft while its in the shop? They're fairly easy to do anytime.

I guess the better plan of action would be to put the gears in and see if it vibrates
It's pretty common to get vibration when you go to 4.10s with the stock old shaft

The aluminum shaft should drop a few pounds too

Now that is an intelligent approach. If no vibration is felt, fawk it get LTs or a CTS V.

I already have the subframe..since last summer...I already planned on the girdle..so that will be put in with the gear install.

Well they will be already taking it off the DS anyway, so it's a great time put it in..
