Just got 3.55's installed and although I love them, they cause my flowmasters to drone horribly at 120kph (standard highway speed here). So I decided I want some less obnoxious mufflers. I like the flowmasters most of the time, around town etc.. but it's my daily driver and to work every morning is gonna drive me nuts.

Found someone offering 2 new Borla ProXS mufflers here in Holland for a fair price. They are 14" case with 1 center and 1 offset inlet/outlet. Would these weld into my flowmaster catback without a problem?

Also, anyone got an exhaust clip of a stockish 5.0 with o/r H and borla's? I don't want them to be TOO quiet, just more less constant drone.

I have an x pipe with cats and borla pro xs and it is noticeably quieter than the flowmasters and a totally different sound. It is very mellow on idle and everyday use. But it does open up on wot but nothing like the flowmasters. There is zero drone in mine and I can speak to the person next to me but it may be too quiet for your taste.

Delta-Flow Flowmasters have the same sound but alot less drone.

Assuming you have the original flowmaster right now??

I know some people here have dynomax ultra flo's, do they drone on the highway? (2000rpm)

I have two chamber flowmasters, and an o/r h on mine and their really isn't much drone. It's decently quiet as long as your not gettin on it (inside the car at least, I don't know about outside...) When your wot it sounds nice, it's loud but not crazy loud either. How large was the difference with your 3.55's?!!? I'm on the verge of getting mine in, I can't wait!!

It's a really nice upgrade from the 2.73's, you'll like it. Not too steep, can still step on it in 1st gear on dry roads without breaking loose and not too much highway revs which was my biggest concern.

Still, it shifted the highway revs right into the chokemaster drone-zone... I didn't have any drone with the 2.73's at 1800rpm either
