if nothing else, just put it in storage. chances are your relationship wont change (because the car isn't "causing problems". ... its a car.) and then you can pull the car out of storage when things have cooled off.

As the others have mentioned here... do NOT get rid of the car! I can understand that 9 or 10 years is a long time... but don't make a decision that you're going to regret later. You shouldn't have to give up what you enjoy because somebody else has influenced you to do so. If you think it's just a temporary issue, then do what MC suggested, and put it up for a while, but don't get rid of the car unless YOU want to get rid of it.
