My car has a weird..yet cool noise ha

just bought my 01 gt on july 1 when i got back from iraq...ive always wanted a Mustang..since i was a kid. However..im still in the whole learning phase..when i start my car it has kind of a high pitched whine..it gets higher when i rev it up..or the more gas i give it while driving. Ive had people ask me if my car had turbo or was supercharged... to give you an idea of the sound.. but its just a 4.6 with flowmasters.. The other day i went out and started my car only to have it whine extremely loud... eventualy i put it in reverse and the whining went back down to the usualy tone.... any ideas what it could be? :dontknow:

Is your car in gear when you rev it or is it in park?

i have a 5 speed..it happens whether in gear or not.. im new here..how do i upload a video?

Check your pulleys. Look under the hood while the car is idling and see if you notice any pulleys wobbling or belt slippage.

Check your power steering fluid. Mine leaks and does that sort of whine even when the car isn't turning. Probably not the issue since you'd notice it while turning, but it doesn't hurt to check

nope..noise doesnt increase when i hit the brakes

LOL mine just started some crazy noise also. Sounds like a duck (blow off valve) at the end of a rev.

check the alternator, it sounds like a supercharger wine when going bad and will increase with rpm

didnt think of alt pulley just tb because that was the first thing that went on mine. also with the car off grab the idler pulley and see if it has any play in it could be another possibility.

you mean the hig pitch squeel that you hear when you turn the key to on but do not start it?

I was guessing a fuel pump, might have been swapped out for a higher output and louder model already.

Throw out bearing would change when he shifted and clutched I thought?

Sounds like your idle air control valve to me. They will whistle sometimes when they start to go bad and not give you any kind of idle problems.
