My day off yesterday turned out to be fairly productive.

I got up to the u-pull-it lot yesterday to look for a replacement wiring harness for my driver side door. Although, when I got home, I had realized that the 04's harness that I pulled, had completely different connectors on just about all the ends, as compared to my 97 (who would have thought, considering the electronics operations arent any different between 94-04, assuming all equipment is power-operated). But the trip wasnt a total loss. It did give me a chance to rip apart the whole harness on a junker car before dismantling my own, which made the process go much faster on my car.

The 04 I was ravaging for parts was pretty mangled up, but for some reason, most of the interior was untouched, so for a measly $20, I got the door harness, an 04 center console, and a fresh set of new edge tail lights. On my way home I grabbed a can of vinyl aerosol dye, and dyed the console and let that dry as I was repairing the harness in my door (which I was able to repair the original harness).

So by 5pm, I had the new console in, both of my windows worked again (after 6 months of my windows stuck in the up position), and the tail lights are sitting in my basement waiting to be thoroughly cleaned and most likely tinted and resold.

Yesterday was probably the best day to go too... Although I had to walk through about 3 feet of snow, through a couple hundred cars, it was definitely worth it. There were some good pickins up there since it was obvious that the place was somewhat deserted with all the snow. Normally, if a car (especially one with junkyard-value like a Mustang or a Camaro) goes in-to the lot on a Saturday, by Monday, there wont be anything left on the car thats worth taking (ie. exhaust system, popular interior pieces, headlights and tail lights, unmolested body parts, etc). Although, since the last time I was up there, most of the mustangs were completely removed from the lot. There were about 6 or 7 mustangs there last time, probably 4 or 5 of them being sn95's. There were 3 there this time, two new edges and one fox. No v8's... in-fact, I've never seen a v8 mustang in this particular yard.

I'll have to let you know. I don't even know when I'll be able to get to them. Hopefully sometime soon though.

What a bargain !!! That 04 console, does it have the double cup holder? Id like to get one of those too. Talkin about stip'n cars .... I met a father-son team in Ocala, FL and that's ALL they do. They hit the lots every day to strip Mustangs from front to back, inside and out, down to the injectors.

never seen V8 at a JY either...
I did see a fox v8 in the big Hazelton Harry's U-Pull-It lot, but by the time I got around to seeing it, the heads, u/l intake, and the harness were gone off the engine, so it wasnt really much of a v8 car anymore. And with the heads and intake gone, there wasnt anything keeping water from getting in the rest of the engine, so I would assume the internals were garbage by then, not that I would have wanted to be fussing with that outside in December at a junkyard, especially when they dont allow any kind of power tools in the yard.

Any of the lots I go to, 99% of the foxes are 4-bangers, and 100% of the sn95's and new edges are all v6's.

Even for as far-north as I am (Pennsylvania), every time I go up there, there's always a "litter" of Mexicans standing at the gate to get in. I assume they are there at least a couple days a week. I cant imagine they are there to resell parts, as 99% of the cars there, are all undesirable cars with an abundance of replacement parts you can find just about anywhere... I would imagine if they are selling the parts to a shop or privately, they cant be making anywhere near enough money to warrant the time they spent pulling the stuff off these cars... remind you, these cars are wrecked and rusted, so if there are any good parts left, they are a pain to get to 99% of the time, and if you can get to them, you have to do it all with hand-tools, which can be nearly impossible to do on a lot of parts with even just a little surface rust.

After I installed the center console though, my seat-belt warning light came on, and I cant get it to go off. I'll have to see what that's all about.

I think those guys in Ocala are buying whole cars and then parting them out. I know they had a warehouse full of parts. .... hey, maybe you cut the ground connection on the seatbelt receiver.

Too much text in this thread...can I get some cliff notes? :thefinger:
My goal was to fix my windows. The power window switches on the driver's door didnt work, so only my passenger window controlled from the passenger door worked.

When I went to the junkyard, I got a door harness (which turned out to be the wrong one... I would have thought all 94-04 door harnesses with electric windows and locks would all the be same). Also while I was there, I grabbed an 04 center console, and a nearly perfect set of new edge tail lights. The harness, the tail lights, and the console for under $20.

When I got home to swap the door harnesses, is when I realized the one I got was wrong, but having dismantled one at the junkyard already that day, I was able to rip out my existing one, and find the problem, fix it, and put it back together.
