Might seem silly, but i been searching for 96-98 tail lights for the longest (the cheap way). 1st pair i brought were sun damaged and i VHT'd them. I have the option of going tinted professionally but i wanna keep that in my back pocket because i think i'll be happier with stock looking 96-98 tails.

Anyway, i been searching junkyards and everyone i go to im too late and the tail lights are already gone or the only ones left are damaged.

Well today a new 98 red v6 just arrived. Damaged to the front of the car so there she stood:

The lenses was 97% perfect and for $30 each light i was happy.

So happy i wasn't thinking and i sat the lights ontop of the car to do something inside the truck forgetting about the big storm we had moving in on us.

And then it happened. I heard the most gut wrenching noise ever.

My heart just sunk as i realized the lights got taken by the wind and dropped on the rock/metal junkyard ground with damage all over the lenses.

Damage was not fixable. The rock took a chunk out the lense.

Been depressed ever since

1: because i drove 30 min to another state to get them.

2: because i was stupid enough to put them ontop of the car than on the ground.

3: because i been searching for perfect lights!

4:because now i feel so stupid.

5- After calling myself stupid i left after the big serve thunderstorm settled down for a bit. So i drove to another u pull it yard to redeem my stupdiness hoping i find another nice set, but this place was near flooded from the rain storm. Paid $2 and didn't find jack shit.. left with ruined socks and shoes.

Worst day ever.

aww shit dude that sucks, i feel so bad for you. How bad are the scratches in the lenses? You should try to sand them out, you can polish it back up to like new if you can sand the scratches smooth.

One wasn't too bad but the one i posted had a nice size chunk taken out of the lense.. no way to repair that. I just left them. Im sure someone just looking for lights for a beater stang will be happy.

Keep watching eBay. I check regularly, and there are people that just post them up because they want to get rid of them. I just picked up a pair (not oem) for $37 including shipping a couple days ago.

That definitely sucks, but if that's your "worst day ever" story I'd say you're doing fairly well...lol

Which side do you need? I have a spare drivers side I'd send you.

I would have to check. I think the damaged one from today is the driver side. I would have to check. What side do you have?
I did go to another u-pull last week and found one sn95 light sitting inside of another car trunk lol. I just left it because it was only 1 light. Might have to go check for it.
Thanks

Hate to hear that but it looks like it will work out! Even though you are ditching the horizontal club and that's not cool. ;)

small scratches should be easy to take care off. Wetsand 1000, 1500, and 2k and then you can hit them with a good UV protected clear and they will last longer as well. Do a quick 2k or 2.5k wetsand on the clear and buff them and they will look good as new, and again last longer as well. Sounds like a lot but its maybe 3-40 mins sanding and the the clear.

Glad you're happy with the light man, I didn't know what I was going to do with it so I'm glad I could help out a fellow SN95 member.

As far as the scratches Scott has the right idea, after sanding you can just polish them up to a nice shine though in case you don't want to deal with the clear coat. That's how I do headlights.

I had some meguiars plastic polish and scratch remover i used on the ebay light. Looks 90% better now so im good to go. Brought some 5 minute epoxy clear to fix the other light and its like brand new. It doesn't flex when you press it anymore so its solid as a brick.

Thanks again.
