i bought my 96 GT this morning. and after talking to the previous owner for a couple minutes. he said that the car has all of the P.I. parts. according to him, there was a recall and a dealership replaced the parts with P.I. how car I confirm if I have them or not.

Look at the intake but i would doubt they would do that.

Look at the cam to get the part #.

Or if all else fails. does it pull up to 5800 or does it stop pulling at about 4800?

With the cams, there's almost no way you can be sure without taking out the valve cover at least. With the intake, take out the alternator and see the depth of the intake. If its almost all the way down (long), its PI. If its short and you see lots of space, its NPI.
Hope you have the in PI :thumb:

if the only parts were those that got changed for the recall, it's probably only the manifold, cause there was no recall on the heads or cams

that's what I would assume

I think only windsor heads have this?

You have it backwards Mike. Windsor's (PI's) were built from 99-mid-'01. Romeo's were built from mid-'01 to 04. My car has the Romeo engine (it was built on June 23, 2001); my oil fill is on the pass. side. :thumb:

All PI cars had the oil neck on the passenger side. But just because the oilneck is on whatever side doesn't mean shit. Someone could have put '02 GT valve covers on their '96 GT and BAM! Instant PI swap to someone who doesn't know any better. '96 - '98 NPI's were all Romeo engines, '99 - early '01 PI's were Windsor engines, and late '01 - '04 PI's were Romeo again. Therefore, valve covers don't mean shit. The PI intake manifold's first runner goes to the driver's side head, NPI intake manifold's first runner goes to the passenger side head. Here's a picture of my old NPI (right) and PI (left):

The guy was probably talking about the recall for the intake manifolds. Ford does not put on the PI intake manifolds on NPI cars. All you have is a NPI intake manifold with an aluminum crossover.
