This is most likely do to me racing the car last thursday. After about 2 days of driving after racing it it started to howl a little. Yesterday the howl got louder. Today the howl stayed the same, but I started to have a little clunking. I had to drive it to the tire place to get a RAZOR blade out of my tire. When i reversed to leave, the rear end jammed. when i put it back in first it un-jammed and made it home with some small clunking.

Sooo...it sounds like my rear end is fucked. Problem is i don't have a ton of money to spend. I have $350 set aside for a tune this month, and about another $200-$300, which will now be spent on the rear.

Its a stock rear end with 4.10's.

I'm most likely going to find a used complete rear and throw it in.

What is the difference between Fox, SN95, and New Edge rear ends? Will any carrier fit from a mercury, pick-up, or any other ford?

If i decide to rebuild it instead of replacing it, what should i do to make it stronger? I dont have money for fancy axles, but should i put a girdle on it or anything? how much do rebuilds usually cost?

If you want to rebuild it to make it stronger get the SVT carbon rebuild kit. It's the same equipment used in the 03/04 Cobras and the new GT500. I used this kit in mine and noticed a difference.

Where can i buy something like that?

Did you rebuild your rear yourself? if not and you don't mind sharing what did you pay?

You can find the kits on ebay (that's where I got mine but was from www.laurelmountainmustang.com). I paid $100 for the kit and the total rebuild which included fluids and installing the 4.10's/bearings,etc. cost me $327.45. Just installing the rebuild kit probably would've been around $100 or so maybe.
