My car has expired plates and inspection. I took it to get inspected and everything passed save it throwing a few codes. It's telling me i have a misfire, 02 sensor slow response code (x2) and that it's running rich. The car drives fine, as far as i can tell from driving feedback i can't tell that there is any misfire. The only mods to the car are long tube headers, offroad H, flowmasters and a built clutch. There are no cats on the car but it does have the MIL deletes and is not throwing any codes for no cat or the converters not working properly. I bought a bottle of Seafoam but has not used it yet as i didn't know if i should put it in the gas tank, vacuum line, oil, or a combination. I have cleared the codes and driven it very nicely and the codes continue to come back. I have tried cycling the codes out multiple times to no avail. I have very little money to spend on my car at the moment so new cats or o2 sensors are out of the question basically. I know others out there have had this problem and i have pretty basic mods.

Can someone please tell me how to take care of this as cheaply as possible. All i need is for it to pass, i know someone out there has the answer so please help me out guys.

(Mods; please do not move this thread to 4v tech where no one will read or comment, i need as many peoples' input as possible.)

....So you put this in member's rides? :tard: Go grap some spare O2's from the junkyard...If you are resetting the ECU and the codes come back that quick you have no choice

1) Clean Maf sensor with Maf cleaner.
2) Replace fuel filter
3) Check spark plug wires, and coil packs
4) A bottle of fuel injector cleaner wont hurt
5) Check air intake filter
6) Replace o2' sensors last option.

Have been doing some homework and found out how to do a few things.

so far i've come up with:
seafoam car
change plugs
change wires change all filters
clean imrc's
clean upper intake
clean maf

does anyone know if i could remove and clean my o2 sensors? links to write up on cleaning maf and o2 sensors would really make my day

usually if they are the orginal, just replace them because its not worth it to clean it. When I replaced mine, my mpg went up, and sounded a bit meaner...Just could be running more efficiently...

sometimes you can sneak them past if you can drive it for around 50miles w/ no codes, but if its immediate then thats a no go.

How long are you letting the car sit with the battery unhooked? Go down the street from the testing center, un hook the battery, turn your light switch to on and let it sit for atleast 10 minutes. Then hook the battery back up, drive to the testing center and have them retest. Ford is one of the only maufacturers that can trick their testing.

they wont tell me to go drive it for a cycle(50 miles) if i do that? if that's the case and you're right you'll be my hero. i have cleared and driven it multiple times and they always come right back. i'll try it though

In NC we cannot legally tell you how to sneak past the testing. I know cause I'm an inspector. But this is not our place of business, so I can tell secrets, lol.

do you know if the unhooking the battery and draining the system by touching the battery cables and turning on the lights will clear the codes and not come up as me needing to drive a cycle to be validated?

Yes it will...Unless something is seriously wrong with the car. You must drain any residual energy from the system, so turn on your lights and let it sit for about 10 minutes.

If you clear the codes and drive it straight to the inspection station its gonna be a no go. I'd unhook the battery, turn the light switch on, let it sit. drive it in the city, bunch of stop and go, for about 40-50 miles. That way its more likely to not run the o2 test or egr test, so those will be incomplete instead of fail, which is ok. worth a shot, no guarantee it'll work of course.

and as long as they fail it you'll have 90 days from that day to get her fixed. That'll keep you from getting a fine.
