my speedomete says im going 10 mph faster than i realy am, help.

ok so my odometer just broke and I brought it to the shop and they quoted me 600$. I have a 1998 v6 with 100k miles and im not gonna ever resell it so i decided not to fix it. Now my speedometer says im going 10 mph faster than i actually. I think, but i could be wrong, that it is my computer that powers the speedometer so if anyone can help me with this or give me a quote on how much computers usualy run that would be great.

What are your mods?
Do you have gears?
Did you change the face on the gauges recently?
Most importantly, fix your odometer. It's just a bad gear. I believe there is a write-up on here somewhere.

i dont have anymods because i just bought the car for my 16 birthday 2 months ago, i have not changed the face on the gauges, and i forgot to mention its an automatic, and i dont have any gears

i had this issue for awhile even before i put gears in my car... and mine fixed with my speedo gear and all when i got my gears but might want to check you speedo gear. Also it might be 10 off but as you get in the higher rpms does it get off more and more?

Buy a GPS and use it. My speedo hasnt worked in monntthhss. And now I get turn by turn directions too haha
