Hey all, just starting this to really kick this off.
After being unsatisfied with the 4.6 2v i decided I wanted more valves, or cubes. Luckily enough i managed to get both. Ended up pulling a navigator motor out of an 01 or 02 (cant remember) navi. paid 400 bucks for it, with 62k on her. Even turned the key before the tear out and heard her run for a good 15 min. After two days of laying in the mud and rocks, we ended up cutting the front end in half and dragging it out that way.

That being said the engine is sitting in my garage awaiting the day when she will get some attention, which will hopefully be pretty quick here.

My ONLY hold up with this build is the intake manifold issues. I have scrounged for a sullivan with no luck. Reviews on the MMR are brutal. Around here you'd have more luck winning the lottery than finding a cobra R intake. Ive looked at the boss 260/90 aus intakes but they dont seem to be what im looking for. On the adapter plates I have doubts about their performance as it seems kind of like a "band-aid" fix.

My plan is to build the hell out of this engine. Very obviously forged everything, P&P on the navi heads, cam yada yada yada not too difficult, just pricey. My issues relates back to the intake as i really want to SC it. I dont really want to go with a cent, just due to the fact that I really want that famous SC whine.

Just curious to see if you guys have any ideas or input to help me out at this last stage of planning. I intend on doing a full write up for us SN95'ers for this 5.4 4V swap as soon as I have the engine built and ready to drop as the only ones I have found are for 99+ (even bought a camera to make sure to include pics lol)

Any and all input is appreciated, even if it is against my ideas or thoughts or plain out telling me im wrong. I definitely do NOT know everything and am always willing to listen to someone who knows more than I do.

Thanks everyone!
Cheers

Thanks for that ganz, guess i didnt check ebay.com. automatically redirects me to .ca lol. And Greg thats a fantastic idea you have. I was going to have my buddy (welder) fab me up something so i could put her on (mechanic by trade), so if i can pick that one up for 100 bucks and just call it a day thatd be great.

That cobra R prototype is great, but id still have to go centri. If im going in that route im going to twin turbo, because if i cant have whine i want whistle and blow off lol

Any other ideas?

Cheers gentlemen

A good place to check is the Lightningrodder.com or lightning forums people have done 4v turbo swaps and could have more 5.4 related input

anyone know if a cobra hellion TT kit would work for the 5.4?

it won't line up it will have to be modified, mostly the hotside.

If thats the idea your looking for get an on3 kit that way you are spending 7k just to cut it apart ......do you plan on doing the work yourself? fab skills welder?

yea, i do have some welding background coming from some heavy duty equipment fabrication. Plus worst come to worst one of my good friends is a welder, so not too much of an issue there.

All in all i really just want to have something that is unique (hence the navi + FI). TT, ST, SC, whatever, as long as it works and gives me the power I want.
