i need a new alternator. i currently have the stock 130 amp in and whenever i'm driving at night and i step on the brakes the rpm's dip and then rev a few times and it really pisses me off. and i have steeda udp that i wanna install so i was thinking of getting a 160 or 170 amp alternator to use with them.

any recomendations on brands or where to get a new one?

I use a 200a PA Performance alt. I wouldn't use the pulley on the alt just leave the stock one on. I actually wouldn't use any underdrive pulleys, not worth the potential aggravation on a street car for 3-5hp.

Stay away from PA Performance alternators especially the 130 amp models. I bought one and it crapped out within a few days. Called PA, they sent me a replacement and within a week same issue. Called them up and the owner kinda agreed that their Alts could not take revs above 5k. Said they were gonna try to fix issue but in the meantime they did refund my money. Went with an Autozone unit and zero problems.

Yea it kinda sucked but the folks at PA are really cool. This was a few years back so hopefully it has been rectified. Their starters are fantastic I might add, no problems there!
