They are a direct swap. If your pi cams came with cam gears already on them, then you are even better off.
V8 Powa, Handz lives in LA, he could help you with a PI motor swap. He did one himself in his garage.
And handz, i'm not swapping in heads now because i dont have the time to do so. So i think a whole motor swap is out of the question lol
What do you mean you dont have time? I swapped my ENTIRE PI ENGINE in 2 days and that was taking my time.
What is too much time for you? If you have a day you can EASILY swap heads, or even faster, the entire motor.
Ok. Maybe i do have time. But if i did, i wouldnt want to waste my money on a getting an old PI motor.
I'm gonna run boost down the line so i'm staying with NPI heads. I already have the PI intake and all i need is the cams... which i'll swap out anyways in a year or 2.
I' don't feel like selling the parts i just bought in order to buy a junkyard motor when i can easily have what i want in an afternoon.
Why wouldnt you get a "Old PI Motor"? What would be your other choices? If you want to go BOOST then sticking to NPI is just plain retarded. NPI heads with 9 PSI of boost only make like 305HP if you are lucky. PI heads with 9 PSI make 400+ HP easily. NPI just suck when used in a boost situation.
You wont get anything from PI cams and intake.... Its a waste of time when you can get all of that PLUS more with a PI motor swap.
Trust me, i Have been where you are and did the whole PI Intake and Cams swap myself.... Its a waste of time. Even just the jump from a NPI motor to a PI motor in my car was WAY different.
I think you need to do some research before you go installing PI cams and Intake when you can have a whole PI motor swap for less than $500.
OK bro, Just saying that NPI heads kinda suck balls. thats why everyone on this forum ditches them.
you may read forums on AFM and MM about this and that..... But this is SN95Forums.... EVERYONE on this forum has NPI heads, so if we are all ditching them, its for a reason.
Even porting a polishing NPI heads with a rebuild on the head and all the other goodies would be as much as a PI motor.
PI motor are dope bro. Even justin will agree.
Just sayin', I only have PI cams and intake - so NPI heads here. Maybe its "most" everyone?

this is the most relevant info on NPI's I've seen on this site. the search function is your friend! not to mention you've actually posted in this thread. lmao.
I just finished the swap so I can give you some heads up on what parts you need.
I posted this thread because i needed a bit of extra help on the parts i need for the PI swap.
That thread is about the potential of NPI heads... a little different than what i'm asking.
Are your NPI heads stock or did you get them reworked? And have you gotten your car dynoed?
I'm curious as to how much power my car would put down with just cams/intake and bolt-ons.
my post was in direct response to your comment below. never said this thread wasn't needed. although I'm sure I could find five identical threads on this subject! good luck on your swap.
I actually have done some research. I've read countless times that port/polished NPI heads will work much better than PI heads.
I also read countless times on MM, AFM, and other mustang forums that staying with the NPI heads is more suitable for forced induction.
And i already have the intake. I can get the cams for $50. I'd be loosing a shit load of money if i bought a PI engine. The parts for a whole engine swap are going to be far greater than the parts for just the intake swap.
I appreciate the advice, but right now i'm pretty set on what i'm doing to the car.
After college, i'm gonna buy a new edge so i'll have all the time in the world to mod a PI motor.
For this one though, i want to keep things simple. And swapping just cams/intake will be done in just a few hours.

your making this more difficult then you need to. look at the big picture. FACT OF LIFE (re-read this till you understand it) You will most likely NEVER put a blower on your car, because 1. they cost to much (especially for the fresh out of college kid looking for a job and house...DURP) 2. you would also need to forge the bottom because your stock bottom end wouldnt last forever, and people who blow there motors without forging are going the EXPENSIVE and painful route. 3. PI heads replacing NPI heads have shown over 100+ HP on a dyno with a paxton.
SCREW THE NPI HEADS. I'm loving my complete pi swap. I noticed barely any more power with the intake. and its supposedly good for 20HP, the cams only 15..
