Need Help..Fuel Pressure or something else??

I have a 97 GT and have installed a K&N FIPK, off-road H-pipe & MSD coil packs, wires with NGK Irridium plugs. Since I made these changes I have had a problem with the engine 'sputtering' on hard acceleration and sometimes even feels like a 'clunking' through the throttle. I believe that I may not be getting enough fuel to match the increased airflow. I would like to get some other opinions. If it is fuel, can I just add an adjustable fuel pressure regulator without changing injectors or fuel pump?

Thanks for your help guys.

Re: Fuel Pressure??

I'd check your boots to make sure they're on good, then possibly recheck the plug gaps.

edit: You're fuel should be fine, I haven't messed with my fuel and I've got jlt rai/tb/plenum... o/r x and exhaust.

Re: Fuel Pressure??

Thanks for the response Get Money. Plugs were my first thought. The problem started before the new plugs were installed and after intake and h-pipe. I triple checked gap at .054 when I installed them.

BTW, what size TB did you install and are happy with it?

Re: Fuel Pressure??

No Answers for me?? I unplugged the neg battery cable for 15min reinstalled it then took the car out and drove the piss out of it trying to reprogram the ecm. This seemed to have helped but did not cure it.
Can some one explain detonation for me and could this be what is happening?

unless u have some clogged injectors i highly doubt it is a fuel problem. i have a PI intake, k/n, o/r x, and a few other things
and the problem i had(which had the same simptoms[sp?] u have) was caused by some fouled plugs. im pullin those crap ass
motorcraft peices of S*** asap. lol. make sure your boot is on good, then check your coil packs. has the check engine light
come on yet?

i dont belive you have a fuel problem at all. You already cleared that up by saying it all happned after youre installs. You might have a small air leak between boots on youre CAI, somewhere after the MAF.

You didnt change the plug wires, possibly you have a/m ones already i dont know. But the boot may have not seated but if you checked youre plugs again then i wouldnt say that. firing order is a must and could be causing problems if they are not 100%, if you dont trust youreself just look on a the factory coils and they tell you where the wires go.

Motorcraft parts are in no way junk and unless you have a crack in the porcilin then i dont think its the plugs either.

Its ok to debate youre opinion. I have no problems with it. But im a Ford tech and i have never had any problems with them except when you have other problems that cause them to foul. :santa_afro:
