Need help plz!

I have a 94 cobra and lately as I would just be driving around mainly at 2000 rpm or lower my car's idle just drops to 0 then pops back up and it just does it on a random basis, every now and then I have to crank it over, stop and do it again because it won't start right off the bat either. I just changed my spark plugs and that didn't seem to help. Now i'm thinking distributor cap maybe? Anyways idk give me some ideas.

pull your dizzy cap and look in the bottom for metal shavings. if there is any in there start looking at a new new dizzy

Sounds like a stator(hall effect sensor) in the distributor. I changed mine out in an hour with hand tools and a BFH but apparently I'm the exception to the rule. Just slap a whole new autozone or napa dizzy in there and you should be good to go. And yes look for the silvery metal shavings under the cap/rotor in the dizzy, its a dead giveaway.

Also change your coil out while your at it. When my stator was bad it kept frying ignition coils.
